This hysteria for adding names where they don't belong is really starting to take the fun out of the Database's forum- and I can't imagine all the confusion and duplicated listings when new members join, don't see main sets and relist them. It's already happened several times with sets that were simply listed under the wrong heading. (basic release instead of promo as an example)
If you want to match the card, fine. But Flair and SP NEVER ONCE had the parent company printed on the card. Putting Fleer or Upper Deck in front of them would make the Database less accurate. Significantly so as it would make more than 20 year's worth of cards innaccurate.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Billy, I respect you and I understand your frustration for the most part but I strongly disagree with you calling it hysteria, in doing so you make me sound as I have gone off the deep end in a sense. All I want to say is that we have different ways of thinking, I AM NOT and never will be the collector that you are but you have to at least see our point of view in some way as I clearly see yours. I continue to use the database and love every aspect of it and that will never change but if there are ways to make the site clearer and more presise I am all for it. I know that people with years of experience know what eveything is and the like but as somebody said a while back, not everyone has been doing it for years and there will be a point where there are more new people here than "old". That in its own right makes change inevitable. Sorry to offend if I have to you Billy and any of the others who were well established before I arrived but debate makes the world go round they say. =)

That design was not used in the NBA or NASCAR; for my chosen sports my statement was correct.
The information of the set's parent company can be added to the Trivia or the user comments section. It doesn't matter how new or old a person is the hobby, if they have the card than they can surely read the copyright info on the back if they have any question of the parent company. The fact is that adding things to the Database that simply do not exist on the cards takes away our accuracy. It's counter to the mission, and would make us less accurate than Beckett. Who wants that?

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. I'm with Billy. 100%. I will lift my self-imposed absence from the forums long enough to state this, and even the numbers a bit. Triple Play is Triple Play. The modern sets from Panini are a carryover over the brand produced by Donruss in the 90s, just like almost every card produced by Panini is a carryover of a Donruss, Skybox, playoff, Pacific, or Pinnacle brand that they bought out. And Ultra is Ultra, whether the cards are being produced by Fleer, Fleer/Skybox, or Upper Deck. And to me, that's even more reason to NOT list the manufacturers. They change too much. Now back into my cave. Carry on, gents. Carry on.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Switzr nice to see you come out of the cave =), lets face the facts people the topic will continue to come up in the forums and that is exatly what one of the reasons for the forum is for, again I will sleep at night regardless how the site is presented and will not fall on a sword to change it. I do NOT want to have Billy, Switzr and the the like possibly hiding in the corners on here for the reason that I do ask questions and 99.9% of the time use what they say to help me learn the hobby and use this site. Admin has already made me aware that the Fleer issue is not changing any time soon and I accept that. Again guys no hard feelings and short of sounding silly lets move on shall we? =)

I realize I'm new here and my opinion doesn't matter much but I think the real key is to be consistent which this site seems to be. Also, this site seems to be in line with Beckett and many places I have found on the internet. After spending many years out of the hobby there have been some sets that have been difficult for me to find but I feel the search features on this site are more than adequate to help me find whatever I am looking for. Sure, people may have certain preferences but it does not make sense to change the site methodology and create a bunch of work when we as users can adapt.

One GREAT thing about this site: Being new does NOT cause your opinion to matter less. (There are many great things about this site...)
Please remember that everyone, no one person's opinion on here is greater than anyone else's. (Well, except for Admin, but even they seek to make as many people happy as possible.)
Also, Mitch, what you said about the site is very correct. Consistency is key in assisting users in finding the information they are looking for. Hence the "SNxxx" all over instead of "#ed out of xxx" or "SN /xxx", etc. And there are many different ways in finding any card on TCDB, which also makes this site great.
