So to be as polite as possible ............ again. I just went through ALL the 1994-95 sets and was verifying today when I see that a Note of TOTG had been replaced by TOG on August 30th. I just need to know the reasoning behind it as I have had a tad bit of experience with the Note and Note2 thing as well as the member who worked on the notes of this set. We have over 35,000 points of experience between us. The subset is called "Tools of the Game" not Tools of Game" I understand that helping out is what this site is all about but PLEASE maybe put out a feeler via thread first before changing them all back. If I am wrong in saying this I will be the first to apologize and will cease verifying things once and for all. Thank you.
Seriously ........... it was done to both sets, base and Special Effects. And only that A/A was changed, all the others left (thank goodness) ......... interesting.

I probably edit as many Notes as anyone, and I agree that TOTG is appropriate here, though TOG also complies with the site's rules and guidelines. The TCDB allows some flexibility in chosing abbreviations and reasoning minds do not always agree on the "best" A/A for a given entry; there have been a few passionate discussions in prior threads on some of these. While I don't know why these particular entries were changed, the Master Glossary shows 6 sets using TOG and no current entries for TOTG, so my guess would be these 2 were changed for consistency with the 4 sets already using a different, but equally appropriate, Note. Like you, I welcome everyone's contributions to the site, but I also understand your frustration over outside interference with a work in progress. By the same token, I can see where another member may have been frustrated by your adding a new Note where an existing Note appeared to suffice. At present, the site permits anyone to revise all of the Notes until the set is locked by someone with level 8 permissions. Perhaps a feature could be added flagging the sets actively under revision with the responsible person's name so others could send a message about possible revisions instead of just making their own changes; perhaps a temporary lock on edits to a given set could be added; or maybe someone else has a better idea. The input from others with different perspectives is one of the things I think makes this site special, and I bet our collective heads can work out an appropriate resolution for such issues going forward.

Contact the member that is making these changes. The ONLY way to prevent it from happening in the future (until we get that set locked down). Educate!

I agree to both of you, I will admit that I did not look at the TOG vs TOTG in the master Glossary, for that I did error. But for this set when I started fixing as well as reakins I do belive it was originally TG and I was the first (I think) to change some to TOTG and he followed suit. So until I go look over all the change logs I can not be certain. To contact a person I also admit a general fear of doing so, I feel I have no right to approach but then again it is not fair to call them out on the forums either. Its not Admin's job though either, they have many other items to worry about.
OOOPS forgot to click on Post ..... this is about two hours old from when I typed it. DOH!

Actually, ranfan, as Level 8 permission holders, we've earned the right to educate others through our numerous contributions. E=mailing someone to ask why something was done by them should not get anyone's knickers in a twist. Also, an offer of assistance in either doing something correctly or in the instruction of how to do it correctly goes a long way in showing the other party that you're truly interested in educating and not scolding. Not everyone reads the forums and the post about the glossary/notes rules and guidelines has gotten buried. Don't fear contacting people. The cool thing is - they are people too, just like you and me. (And besides, you live so far out in the middle of nowhere that even if they do get that ticked off at you, they'll never be able to find you! LOL!!)

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Wooooo Hooooooo, Molson is great and all but I like mine to have Polar Bears on em!! There's your homework Switzr buddy, the brand and the name of the brewer / brewing company. That should keep your drunk a&& awake for awhile. =) I'm further north than those Ontarioians like sandyrusty and crew so I relate better with a Polar Bear. ROFL
