The hobby cards have a metallic foil coating. Retail doesn't. Here is the Beckett description:
"The 1997 Collector's Edge Masters set was issued in one series totaling 270 cards and was distributed in six-card packs with a suggested retail price of $3.49. The set contains color photos of 240 top players in the NFL printed on metalized card stock, for the hobby version, with silver texture or regular white paper stock, for the retail version, plus 30 team flag cards which were inserted randomly at the rate of one every three packs."
