Can anyone see any differences in the Mark Mesier card in these two insert sets? I can not see anything but it is me. I will PM the Messier collector and see if he has an answer.

So Beckett calls the "Extra" version "Diamond". Could there possibly be an actual diamond in the ring on bottom left corner?
EDIT - Yes I do believe if you place the two Messier cards side by side and click between them the Extra version sure looks like it has a stone in it. No reply from the Messier fellow yet so is there someone willing to confirm for me?

Those two look exactly the same. The Extra card looks incorrect. The images on comc.com show the difference in the diamond in the middle of the ring. Beckett calls them "Champion Salute" and "Champion Salute Diamond". The "Champion Salute Diamond" cards have an actual diamond chip in the middle of the ring.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

The cards that look like they have a big diamond in the middle are NOT the "Diamond" version. The actual diamond chips are very small. You can see the difference on comc.com. I like calling them "Diamond" but would need to see packaging to see what Pinnacle called them.

All the evidence I have found (which is not visual yet) is that the Extra name is correct, I looked at over six differnt hobby box listings and each of them use the Extra is in description of what the pull odds were. 1 in 350 is what the Extra version was. So for now it looks as we are correct. =)

I don't think it was an actual diamond. I know they did something similar in NASCAR but the cards are way too cheap to be actual diamond bits, even tiny. They have put actual diamonds on cards before, but I don't think this is one of them. Of course, I could be way off, as it's not even a year for me in Hockey until next week.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Sorry, arriving to the party a bit late, but here is my "expert" opininon. Ha!
ranfordfan has it exactly correct. The Extra version has a faux diamond on the bottom left corner while the basic one is just a foil representation.
Putting them side by side you can really tell the difference as you can see the facets of the fake diamond on the Extra.

Ok since I have the Gilmour one, mine has what it looks like a diamond on it. It is not flat. Protrudes from the card. So is that the extra or regular. If extra then I posted the scan on the wrong insert set. HMMMMM

Trying to acquire one card for every for every set, insert, parralle, minor, euro, team issue, oddball etc sets produced for Hockey. Been an interesting project.

From Beckett:
The fronts feature color player photos printed on micro-etched, silver poly-laminate card stock, along with a faux "diamond" embedded in the Stanley Cup ring icon. A parallel to this set, entitled Champion Salute Extra, included an actual diamond chip.

Interesting situation, mm11 owns both cards so you would hope he is accurate. I can see the difference that he speaks of on the DB. Just what they mean by a "chip" is the hard part. That is the issue with something like this, hard to verify. But then again if you have both ............ hmmmmm perplexing
