So the seller is quite honest in my opinion as I have purchased from him before. He said that these were a redemption program of some sort that Donruss had planned for the entire 97-98 run hence why there are also other Donruss brands with the players club stamp. He says for me to contact Dave and Adams as they bought out Donruss when they went bankrupt. So maybe they are the ones who cut up these full sheet redemptions to sell as singles. If this is the case I would say that they should be considered legit. He actually said he would love any info I might find. So the plot thickens ..... Still doesn't explain that gold Selanne in the DB or the fact some are SN 150 and some are not ..... Picking on me already avs eh ..... Ah yes good to be back ;)

The seller is most likely not at fault here, just hard to believe that stamp is legit. The way it looks, the name they used, and it being on the card back just screams hand made to me.

I asked for an image of the card front but he did not oblige. I kinda feel the Beckett thread sounds the simplest answer but as we have seen in the past that sometimes not the case. The seller is CentreIce Collectibles and he has quite a few in stock. Will do some more digging and see where I get. So as it stands at the moment I'd be in your court Doc.

I seem to recall that these were inserted into packs with no serial number but the packaging said they would be numbered to 150. They then allowed you to send them in to Donruss and they'd send you a S/N version as a "make good" of that packaged promise. Totally off memory though and I haven't collected in years. I'd have to dig through my insert box to post what the numbered ones should look like, I know I have it in my old player collection with and without S/N.

Thanks DJ that's the first bit of new Intel I have gotten on this set for a long time ..... That makes sense why some and some are not. Now just that gold Selanne card that shows on the DB ....., hmmmmmm lol.

I wasn't very clear on my reply and now that i've re-read this thread figured I should clarify. The gold Dominion cards were inserted into packs unnumbered. The gold Dominion cards that were numbered were sent out by Donruss as replacements for the unnumbered ones. The red Dominion cards that are scanned in the database I don't know anything about. I busted a bit of wax on this when they were new releases and never saw those. I was a pretty hard core player collector then, too, and would've seen them. I wonder if the red versions were a back-door that got into the wild years later. I'd be curious if anyone with the reds can say how long they've had them.
There's a rectangle where the S/N gets printed (like many cards back then) but it can be pretty faint on the scans. On the non-S/N card, that rectangle isn't there. The front of the gold is identical for both S/N and non-S/N versions. I'll upload a scan of mine tomorrow as I just dug it out of storage but need to get to bed.
EDIT: I uploaded the images of the gold front and S/N back, they are in the queue. I don't have great software so couldn't easily straighten the crooked one but put them there more so you could take a look.

So I noticed that we are now up to two gold versions of the dominion parallel but the newest one (Shanahan) has only a front scan so no clue if it has a SN or not. I have had no luck finding anything on this at all. DJ so far you have all the knowledge.

MAJOR bump ...............
So 8 mos later we now have five golds (3 with SN, two no backs scanned) and six reds (2 SN, 3 no SN and 1 no back scanned). My gut is telling me that there is way more to this than we know yet. How do you get the set info stuff at Beckett as I can never find it on sets. Do you need to have a subscription to see it? I am starting to think that the Dominion needs to be updated to a Gold and Red Version and then the cards should have ERR and COR listed as the explanation about sending out replacemnets makes the most sense to me. Anyone feel like scouting this set out with me again? I'd sure like to get it figured out.

Got it, thanks ....... and yeah I see what you mean!! No updated info there at all. I think the Dominion set has some interesting mysteries to unveil and that the DB definitely needs to reflect this. I have googled it to death again this morning and can not find any "new" info anywhere. UGH. I now know why Donruss went belly up!! =(
