Card #489, Julio Gotay, caught my eye. I know it was just a photo shoot, but look how small that glove looks on his hand. Is that a kid's glove? Is it falling off? Did he not put it all the way on?

Looks like he just did not slide his hand all the way in for the photo.   Gloves were smaller in those day.   I had a Maury Wills model, not a kids glove, and it was small.    You either caught the ball or didn't.

    What really bothers me is the abbrviation used for the team name.

The glove looks about right for an infielder. I played 2nd base with a glove that looked alot like his. Mine was all black. It was the first glove that I bought with my own money. I had a paper route. I still have it 50 some odd years later. The glove. Not the paper route. I doubt I could play 2nd base with it anymore. Now being the size of an offensive lineman might limit my range.

I believe Joe Morgan was noted for playing with a small glove. Seemed to work OK for him.

what you gave up the paper route ........... easy money man!! =)

Last time I had a kid deliver my paper was in the early 1980's. Since then it's always been an adult.

Millenials don't DO paper routes, that is destroying trees, you can get ALL the new on facebook anyways and oh yeah that would mean being outside. ;)

Just sayin.

 My son had a route in 1991 when he was 10.   It was an afternoon paper which has since become a morning paper.

Shortstops tend to have the smallest gloves on the field.  Look at some of Ozzie Smith's glove.  It looks about right to me.
