What is the difference between the Prospects regular base card and the Refractor parallel card? I've got an Avisail Garcia card and can't decide whether to mark which one I have. Looking at BaseballCardPedia and SportsCardRadio it appears as though the base cards are in fact refractors and one set needs to be deleted on the database. Beckett lists the two different sets and on COMC the Refractor also seems to be the base card.
Thanks!

If it is like other years of Bowman Platinum, the base cards are foil.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

You're confusing your terms. Prospects are not base cards, they are inserts. All the various Prospects (Red Refractor, Purple Refractor, etc) are also inserts, not parallels. But getting through all that, it looks like the Prospects and Prospects Refractors are the same. And Prospects Refractors is the correct title.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

If this discussion is accurate, then there is a set that needs to be deleted from the database.
I don't believe a non-refractor Prospects set exists, therefore, either the set labeled "Prospects" or "Prospects Refractors" needs to be deleted.
Can anyone else clarify?

The prospects cards have the chromium technology like a regular Topps Chrome card has. The base set have foil board technology like the recent Stars of MLB inserts and rainbow foil parallel Topps cards have. Hope this helps.

And you know for a fact that the 2011 Bowman Platinum Prospects exist in both formats? I know the difference between Chrome and Chrome refractors- trying to confirm the two different sets' existence.

I must’ve opened at least 20-30 packs of the product in 2011, and it was only the veterans that were foilboard technology. The prospects were all Chrome refractors as the base cards but did have different parallels like purple, xfractor, and the like.
