1980-87 SSPC HOF Baseball Forum

.....on this set?   Is this SSPC the same as the Sports Stars Publishing Co that put the unlicensed set out in the late mid 70's?

The title states "1980-1987....." when  we they actually released?

Any help is appreciated.

The first release was in 1980. Then each year it was reissued with the addition of the new HOF inductees.

I'm pretty sure I've seen in some Beckett Guide/Almanac listing 1988 as the last year and Willie Stargell, the only inductee that year, but never seen any instance of the card out in "the wild."

Though this could be me Mandela-ing the 1987 inductee cards.  *rolls eyes*

Either way, I'm sure I was actually told once the cards I was looking for (either Stargell or Williams/Hunter/Dandridge) didn't exist! *rolls eyes*

Me too.  Nearly 200 HOFers, including many of the most important names in the game's history, for what, 15-25 bucks?  Love it.

Even with all the odd ball illustrations and odd colorizations!

since each card says "Baseball Immortals", should that be a part of the title of this set?

might be easier to find for someone not real familiar with these and has a few cards in hand?

I 100% agree with Mark's idea above. Can't find the set from just looking at the cards, and these are cards which are likely to make their way into the hands of a novice collector. 

Totally off topic, but ... Card# 20 in the set - Best porn name ever! Just thought I'd pass that on.
