I believe that the 1994 Action Packed Mint set's checklist currently contains too many cards in the database since it shows the same 209 card set size as the base set.
The Action Packed parallel sets did not contain all of the cards from their respective base sets in 1994. The "24kt Gold" parallel set is listed correctly, the cards are parallel to, and numbered the same as, the base cards. However, they were only made of a select group of the base cards, not the entire set. The same is true for the "Mint" parallel cards, and it is a much smaller and more select group of cards than even the 24kt Gold set, apparently including only select Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt cards.
Other driver's cards from the 1994 Action Packed Mint set started showing up on a lot of collectors' want lists a few years back. It was really confusing at first because most long-time collectors (the ones who weren't Gordon or Earnhardt fans anyway) had not heard of the set before then, which was really strange for an almost 20 year old product at the time. It seems that somebody at Beckett had done a cut & paste job in the OPG and made the online checklist there include all of the cards from the base set, even though their print lists had never included such a set before. So all of a sudden, a lot of collectors believed in the existence of these phantom cards that nobody had ever actually seen.
I would prefer to see the checklist for the 1994 Action Packed Mint set be reduced to those cards that members have indicated that they own, and only add in others as they are found. I'm not sure if there is a way to make this listing truly correct today, but I thought it would be good to at least start a dialog on the subject here.
