2010 Upper Deck World of Sports Multi-Sport Forum

So the card listed above ............ why would it not be considered his RC? It is a major release set from a liscensed card company. In the past (90s) WJC cards are listed as rookie cards. I do believe he is retired now and there are only minor league team sets and ITG cards other than this one UD card. Any help would be great as I would say it should be but what do I know. Hahaha.

So now I see that Taylor Hall also is in this set ..... has two cards #191 (image on DB) and #303. Again both from a major release and by Upper Deck, why not considered a RC either ............. I'm confused.

You can't be a rookie until you've played in the NHL. WJC cards shouldn't be considered rookie cards.

I don't think multi-sport sets count as RC cards either

Here is an example, this is one of MANY cards of the WJC that I have in my Oiler RC PC. It is also listed as such at Beckett and in multiple publications. There must be some kind of rules as to why. I will do a quick Google and return ..........

I knew I would find an answer, short answer from 90-91 to 01-02 WJC cards were allowed by the powers that be, after that the player could not be printed on a card until they had made a debut with thier NHL club (if I read it correctly). It is a good read and makes sense, not everyone will agree I would gather but at least my WJC RCs are safe. =)

Same as the 1985 Topps baseball and the Team USA cards. That anonymous Card Czar decided they were "Rookie Cards". Just another example of why I put no stock in the "rookie card" designation.

LOL true ........ very true C2C. I'd LOVE to know who that czar really was ............ its a mystery one will never know!!!!
