First, I'm assuming the note "S2" just means Series 2. Other cards in the set are shown as "Ser 2".
My main question is how can I tell if I have the base card or the silver foil? My ancient eyes have trouble with those things. :)

I'm working on that set, and can be confusing. There are 3 versions, base, silver, and gold. The gold has a kind of hologram or refractor look to it but has an undertone gold look to it. I'm thinking silver is similar but silver undertone instead of gold. The base has the look of a regular card, no refractor look at all. I've traded and got the gold parallels by accident. I hope I got that right.

That is probably the best description I've heard. The regular have absolutely no foil to them. The gold and the silver foil is noticeable in two ways; the color of the banner on the front left is of course the name of them. The foil part is noticeable over the entire card, and yeah, they definitely both have their own sheen; the silver foil is more silver and the gold foil more gold.
Sorry, I just regurgitated some info there, but Joshua825 is spot-on, at least in my experiences.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

The sheen is where I get confused because I'm from the glossy era when the distinction was easier. I'm claiming I have the base card, but it sure does have a sheen to it.

Then you probably have the silver version.

If there is a sheen that looks yellowish it's most likely the gold version, if not yellowish and has any sheen it might be the silver parallel. If no sheen at all, that's base.

There is also a good chance that if there is a Sheen, it's either Martin or Charlie.

After posting that, I realized I had cards from the set. The silver version seems to be a bit blueish if I remember. I have a few and while they don't take light as much as refractors, they do seem to pop a bit when hit with some light.
