1989 Topps Stickers Baseball Forum

I noticed an inconsistancy with regards to Topps stickers and how the backs are listed as sets. In this 1989 set, the back cards are listed as an insert to the sticker fronts. However, the 1988 set has two seperate listings - one set for the stickers fronts and another for the card backs. It seems it would be easier to search/enter cards if all Topps sticker sets were listed one way or the other. (Personally, I'd vote for two seperate sets.)

I agree with thesemers, and here's why:

I wouldn't say they are inserts, but more like a separate related set. There are multiple stickers and backs in each pack, so they aren't really "inserted" at any insert ratio, they're just like another base set. Kinda like 2 base sets within each pack. The backs cold be listed under "inserts and related sets" because it is related. Just my thoughts...

This is an extremely confusing set of cards. Probably one of THE most confusing I've ever seen. From my limited understanding of this labyrinth of a set, here is what I think MIGHT be how to describe the set. It seems that there are a number of different "backs" (featuring different "Super Star" players - but only 1 player on each back of course). So... it almost looks like this set is made with what today is called "Variations", except in the case of this set the variations seem to be on the backs of the cards, rather than the fronts.. If the differences are not considered as "Var" issues, then I can see infinite sets within the same overarching set (which is super confusing). Personally I dislike variation issues. Simple short-prints are fine and companies should label them as such. But the scavenger hunts that Topps is putting people on today is getting a little ridiculous - especially when they say nothing about the variations. I mean come on... a picture of a squirrel on the front of a baseball card and that makes the card worth 50 bucks?? It's just really non-sense and has nothing to do with baseball or appreciation of one's favorite player(s).
