2009 Donruss Rookies & Stars Football Forum

The 2009 Donruss Rookies & Stars set card #134 lists name as Christopher but the Longevity card just reads Chris in the database. Both link to the same PID. Does it really matter if the name is shortened as long as it is a correct PID?

The rule of thumb is that any given card should be listed under the name that is displayed on the card. A good example is Roberto Clemente. Some of his cards from back in the day had him listed as "Bob Clemente". If the card reads "Bob", it should be listed as Bob, and, like you stated, attached to the correct PID. I changed Owens' base card from the R&S base set, the longevity base set, and any parallels from both sets to "Christopher". The PID are all linked up and I assigned all of those cards to the proper team, as well.

The PID should be set up so that the more common usage is the main PID name (Since it's pretty much accepted that he's Roberto Clemente, that should be his PID name), and Bob Clemente would be an Alias for that PID. And if someone uses, or companies used, more than one Alias, the DB can handle multiple Aliases for one individual. (This was set up a while back, mainly due to the Wrestling category, where many of the stars have gone by different names over the years - or with different leagues.)

Thank you BigDog! I felt the same but wasn't sure how to do it except one card at a time...if that is how you did it! I didn't want to make any changes until I knew for sure what the proper way was. Thanx again!!
