This is now my most hated set ever. I bought on eBay what I thought would be an autographed card of a family member's all-time favorite player, based on the name of the set. Today I received what I would compare to an Upper Deck Silver Signature card in the mail. Granted, the seller wasn't at fault. He didn't claim it was signed. I was going by the name of the set, as Autographics was the name of the cross-brand autograph cards that were inserted into Fleer/Skybox packs before I took a break from collecting. I wasn't in the hobby in 2004-05 and had no idea they had cheapened the name by using it for a base set with facsimile autographs. So when I saw it was a "SkyBox Autographics", I assumed it was an autographed insert card from a SkyBox pack based on history. In the seller's scan, the silver foil looked like black ink, as we members know often happens when scanning foil. So the seller didn't deceive me. Skybox deceived me, years after going out of business. I did overpay for what I ended up getting ($4 for a Jason Williams card that can't be worth more than a quarter).
Sorry guys. I just needed to air my frustrations over that one.
I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
