How can cards that have been separated from a two card panel get a mint grade ? Seems to me only complete panel cards should be considered mint. How do you grade a card with a rough edge caused by splitting the panel? What about panels that have been separated by using a paper cutter? Is this trimming? A sharp edge would improve the look of the card would it not? I suppose grading companies would not grade them if they were cut, even if they met size requirements.
Would appreciate anyone's comments, thoughts on this subject. Thank you!

They will grade cards that are cut from a panel . Good example is the box bottom cards that were only available on the box . Also , hostess and twinkies from the 1970's . If the card meets the mint requirements of the grader it can grade mint .

I read somewhere that they do not perforaed panets cut. Naturally, you don't want to trim the card. But I am not sure if they meant the panel should not even be cut on perforation as opposed to simply bending. I know that did not help much.

I didn't finish my thought , I would think this set would be similar , the cards were made to be seperated . I would think if the rough edge was removed that it would hurt the grade , seems like that would be considered trimmed .

Thanks so much for your input! Of course if grading isn't an issue, you can separate as it suits you. Personally, I like cards that look like new out of the pack or as close as possible. Love full panels.
By the way, I should introduce myself. I am from Alberta Canada, and am a retired transportation engineer. I have been collecting since the mid 90s not to mention when I was much younger. I have typically collected vintage hockey, in psa and ungraded (1950s and 60s ) and for a change of pace am now looking at canadian football. Not as popular as hockey or indeed baseball but still nice and fairly inexpensive collectibles.
The 1962 cfl set was the first football set I collected as a kid. Also did 57 parkhurst hockey. Fun hobby!
I look forward to more interaction with this forum, something I am new to so please bear with me!
Thanks all!

Finally somebody else from the frosty praries =) ......... Welcome to the site wingsrule1, I too hail from Canada but am in SK, but I could spit into Alberta from my doorstep (well almost). You from the north half or south half of the Wild Rose country? Lots to do here and plenty of friendly / helpful souls. I am sure you will enjoy it here.

Hi Ranfordfan,
I see you have sent me a friend request...just curious as to what that entails? Not that I dont want to be friendly but I don't do Facebook or Twitter so is this one of those?
