All-Time MLB Legends and their Modern Era Counterpartsby Joeyd011 - 45 cards (Last updated on Sep 20, 2016) |
Ever wonder how the legends of yesteryear would measure up to the modern day game of baseball, and which players they would closely resemble if they were playing today? Here is my growing list regarding the topic, what are your choices?

Really cool list, comparing modern-day stars to the ones of yesteryear is always fun. I think that Posey actually is a better comp to Bench than Pudge; Rodriguez compares better to the original Pudge (Carlton Fisk) imo. Another good one that you didn't mention would be Harmon Killebrew and Jim Thome. Thome also compares well to Reggie Jackson too.

Putting Johnson with Clemens makes sense, but ped era...be warned

How about a comp to beltran or berkman? Those might be neat.
| ||
How about Charlie Hough to LaTroy Hawkins? There is an easy comp in longevity.

ScottoftheBoro, it's all subjective, and there are a ton of opinions out there. This list is still growing, and there are a few players that I haven't even bothered to compare yet with a ten foot pole. It's too tough. Posey is a good choice for Bench, I chose Rodriguez for the glove, but Posey is definitely a good choice. Any ideas for Babe Ruth, or Ted Williams?

DarkSide830, thanks for your comments. It's tough, I'm trying to keep player positions the same or as similar as possible. With pitchers, I'm comparing righties with righties, and lefties with lefties. The steroid era does pose some challenges, especially with the obvious users like Bonds, McGwire, and Sosa, who would have easily made this list if they played clean. Clemens was more of a borderline choice in my opinion, but you're right. I like your Berkman and Beltran idea, I'll add those to the list shortly.

Oh, and Killebrew/Thome, I'll add that soon as well. Great choice.
