Topps Recycles 2016by ShoTime - 87 cards (Last updated on Jan 28, 2017) |
Even Topps helps the environment...
This isn't very comprehensive, I lost my .txt document where I had more listed and even deleted a few from the list, because I could not find their doppelgangers.

Really lazy on Topps' part. No photographer worth their salt is gonna go on assignment and just shoot one picture. So Topps has to have plenty to choose from. But its regular practice, so they must not feel too guilty about selling us the same thing over and over.

The recycling of pictures across different Topps brands is bad enough, but those wrestling examples (e,g, 5 and 58) are actually from the same base set??????

Yeah, the George Steele cards are from the same base set (WWE Undisputed), from 2016 and 2015 sets. Bam Bam Bigelow and Honky Tonk Man's are also the same (except for zooming). I think that may be the worst in all these, it's Topps "premier" WWE release and they do that.

How is Ozzie Smith missing from this list? I know this is supposed to be just 2016 cards, but Topps seems to use the front of his 1979 Rookie Card EVERY year in some way for nearly every release since about 2010. I just got his 2016 Berger's Best card (#BB-28) and the front is nothing but a reprint of the '79 RC. I'm sure there are more like that in this year's Topps releases. I probably have at least 30 different Topps cards from the past 7 years that copy the front of that card. I haven't even bought a blaster or hobby box of any Topps MLB product since 2010 and still have a bunch of cards that look EXACTLY the same on the front! The only way to know what I have is by the back and even then I have to check the small print on the back to know what it is. Topps is ridiculous now and has been for many years. Everyone calls the mid-80's to mid-90's "The Junk-Wax Years", but Topps has made post-2009 the "New-Junk Years"!

The reason why there isn't any Ozzie Smith cards on here (yet) is because Topps has been better (this year, anyways) about what they're doing - if that makes sense. I'm really trying to focus on the past two years ('15-'16). Ozzie Smith cards have had a few repeats, from what I could tell/remember (Gypsy Queen Relic, Stadium Club Legends and the Topps Coin and Stamp cards).
I don't see or know every Topps card they've released this year, so I could be wrong. I'd be glad if people pointed some out and I would add them to the list.
Then for Berger's Best, I see that set as a different animal than these cards. This list, I'd like to think they just slipped through Topps' quality control

See, this is exactly why I won't get into collecting all these "other" non- base sets. I don't need two cards if one player from the same year. I REALLY don't need two cards one one player with the same picture.
Nice work.

Also, sure, the trout is the same, but what other picture is more entertaining???? |
