Very nice collection! Thank you for sharing. Funny story: Darrell Evans was playing in a charity softball tournament in Grand Rapids the weekend I was getting married. My best friend had him and many others sign a wedding card for me. Monday morning, I flew out with my bride on my honeymoon and sat across the aisle with Darrell Evans, not knowing he had signed the card yet, but he knew we were the couple he signed the card for after I introduced myself and bride and asked for a photo with him in O'Hare airport after we go off the plane. He was extremely gracious to us.

Great story dsorek. Always great to hear when players do nice things for fans! I think my favourite Darrell Evans moment was in the 87 playoffs, the game after he was picked off at 3rd. The crowd the next day gave him a standing ovation with signs all over the ball-park about how he was a Tiger forever. Your story probably lends to this reaction, he was a fan first type of guy!

That Nate Bumstead card cracks me up. Signed once with a pen and then again, much larger, in marker. In 1989 I went to a Kansas City Royals game and my dad recognized John Mayberry in the parking lot. It was just my luck that I had on me the souvenier ball I had picked up at the game the night before. Unfortunately, no Sharpie was to be found. Not even a pen. The best I could produce was a golf pencil I found underneath the front seat of my parents' car. So "Big John" Mayberry signed my ball with a pencil. | ||
Not quite signed with a pen but that was one of the years Topps did the facsimilie auto on the card, but ya the sigs look pretty much identical one on top of the other. | ||
