2016-17 MLB Offseason Notable Transactions

by DarkSide830 - 176 cards (Last updated on Feb. 20, 2017)

1. 2016 Topps Update #US97 Cameron Maybin

With the first major move of the offseason, the Tigers dealt Cameron to the Angels for Victor Alcantara.

2. 2016 Topps #386 Nori Aoki

Should he play for them in 2017, Houston will be Nori's fifth team played for in as many years.

3. 2016 Topps #270 Pat Neshek

As if to clear a roster spot for Aoki, the Astros dealt Neshek to the Phillies for a player to be named later the following day.

4. 2016 Topps Update #US99a Jeremy Hazelbaker

A few Cards fans were surely saddened when one of the bright spots of the 2016 St. Louis season was picked up off waivers by the Diamondbacks. Shortly after the Mariners claimed Hazelbaker's teammate, Dean Kiekhefer off the waiver wire as well.

5. 2016 Topps #237 Carlos Ruiz

After the Phillies dealt Ruiz, one of the two last players from their 2008 World Series team, to the Dodgers in late August, he was flipped again, this time to the Mariners on November 7th for Vidal Nuno.

6. 2016 Topps #493 R.A. Dickey

Signed one-year deal with Braves, December 10th, returning to NL East for first time since winning the NL Cy Young award in 2012.

7. 2016 Topps Update #US245 Howie Kendrick

Dealt to Phillies for 1B-OF Darin Ruf and 2B-OF Darnell Sweeney (a former Dodgers prospect) on November 11th.

8. 2015 Topps #526a Will Middlebrooks

Signed as minor league free agent by Rangers on November 11th.

9. 2016 Topps #626 Danny Valencia

Traded to Mariners for Paul Blackburn.

10. 2016 Topps Update #US185 Jeremy Hellickson

Accepted qualifying offer on December 14th.

Wow. My takeaways thus far is that the Astros have been very active and that the Braves are going to have a really old rotation. I didn't realize they had signed Bartolo Colon. He and Dickey may double the average age of the rotation. Unless they signed Bartolo to DH interleague games.

I believe Bartolo is their starting 1B.

The dugout seemed a little too young since the departure of Bobby Cox and Leo Mazzone. Bartolo and Dickey should help cover for that.

Great list, I didn't know about a lot of these. I think the Cardinals made a mistake waiving Hazelbaker. Can't wait to see the updated list, I hear my Royals might be making a move today.

I appreciate the support. Sorry Jupiter, I've been a bit busy the last few days. Will add the Davis deal as well as Beniot, Desmond, Ellis, ect.

Sorry this took so long. Didn't have the time to get all of the contract details while keeping up to date on daily happenings. Here you go.

Eric Fryer resigned with the Cardinals on a minor league deal. He'll probably be Molina's backup. Really good pickup for St. Louis; he was playing so well but we had to release him when Brayan Pena came off the DL; then Pena went back on the DL two weeks later but Fryer was already gone. Glad to have him back this year.
