10,000 People By Sport

by Billy Kingsley - 74 cards (Last updated on Jan 21, 2017)

42. 1997 Sports Illustrated for Kids #542 Cammy Myler

Luge puts 5 people in my collection, and I can't imagine sanity is a prerequisite for competing in this sport. Fun to watch though.

43. 2010 Topps UFC Main Event #37 Quinton Jackson

MMA shows up as 5 people but I think it's actually more than that. I purchased one pack of MMA cards in an attempt to contribute something for the MMA section of the Database, which was successful, but I have no interest in following it otherwise.

44. 2016 Topps U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Team Hopefuls - Bronze #47 Merrill Moses

Water Polo is one of my favorite Olympic events. I really began watching the Olympics as a big deal in 1992 and that was the first time I had ever seen this sport. I've been a fan ever since. Unfortunately, the card companies aren't, and only 5 water poloers appear in my collection. Is that the plural for Water Polo players? I have no idea.

45. 1934 Player's Cricketers #3 Alfred Bakewell

Cricket is a sport I don't know anything about. When I think of cricket I think of Jiminy Cricket or the actual bugs that make a lot of noise every summer. I have 4 cards of the entire sport, all of which came in a lot of vintage tobacco cards I purchased last year.

46. 1999 Sports Illustrated for Kids #808 Emma George

Pole Vaulting is another sport that puts 4 people in to my collection. I learned during the 2016 Olympics that the vaulters have to supply their own pole!
Unfortunately I have misplaced this card so I cannot upload a scan of the back at this time.

47. 2012 Topps U.S. Olympic Team & Hopefuls #7 Mary Whipple

Rowing is another Olympic event I really enjoy- and they do it locally too, yet I've never actually gone out to watch. Darn mobility problems. It too puts 4 people into my collection.

48. 2012 Topps U.S. Olympic Team & Hopefuls #86 Steven Lopez

I'm not sure I've ever actually even seen Taekwondo in the Olympics, however, I have 4 of their competitors in my collection.

49. 2014 Topps U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Team & Hopefuls #99 Jessica Schultz

Curling! Both the viewers must be thrilled :) Actually, I love curling. I learned recently that it gets televised regularly in Canada, and I am legitimately jealous of my northern neighbors.
I have only three curlers in my collection.

50. 2016 Topps U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Team Hopefuls - Gold #7 Paige Selenski

Like I said on my blog when I got into NHL hockey, Field hockey is a favorite event of mine in the Olympics. Unfortunately only three of the athletes appear in my collection.

51. 1996 Upper Deck USA Olympicards #32 Roger Kingdom

As I mentioned above, I broke out Hurdlers into their own listing when I knew they were hurdlers, There are only 3 that I was able to be sure on. Seeing them jumping over the hurdle really helps.

Billy, I just noticed your sample card #58 for Lacrosse, Paula Heuser, is actually a field hockey card.
