Favorite Cards for my Favorites List

by Gunny - 38 cards (Last updated on Mar. 12, 2018)

1. 2008-09 O-Pee-Chee - 1979-80 Retro #580 Jean Beliveau

Great shot of Jean Beliveau and the retro design on this card I really like. Got this card in a pack from the LCS.

2. 2005-06 Magic Box Int. Shoot Out #NNO Dennis Bergkamp

I like this card because it features Dennis Bergkamp in my all time favorite Arsenal kit. This redcurrant kit was made to celebrate the team's last season at Highbury. This card came in a box which was an ebay purchase.

3. 1970-71 O-Pee-Chee #200 Les Binkley

I like how this card has the Binkster posed, ready to face the shooter and make the save. Purchased this card at one of my LCSs, one which sadly went out of business.

4. 1971-72 Topps #180 John Brisker

Was there a tougher man in basketball? I think not. I got this card in a pack purchased at a corner store when I was growing up way back in 1971.

5. 1974-75 O-Pee-Chee #241 Dave Burrows

Another of my favorite hockey sets from the 1970s. This is the O-Pee-Chee version and was a COMC purchase.

6. 2013 Sportkings Series F - Premium Back #262 Jim Clark

One of the greatest racers ever, I read more about him than actually saw him. Hard to find Jim Clark cards. Saw this one on COMC and it was an instant purchase.

7. 1970 Kellogg's #27 Roberto Clemente

I ate a bunch of Kellogg's cereal in 1970 trying to get the Clemente card. I was unsuccessful. So last fall at a card show in the Westmoreland Mall I finally found a dealer with it and I went home happy that day.

8. 2005-06 Upper Deck - Diary of a Phenom #DP9 Sidney Crosby

It appears that Sidney is wearing a retro inspired Penguins sweater styled after what the team wore in the late 1970s and early 1980s. When did they wear those?!?!?! This has driven me crazy since I first saw this card. Got it from a pack at the LCS.

9. 1983-84 Topps Stickers #234 Michel Dion

The early eighties where the lean years for collecting hockey cards. So it was that a local convenience store got in a box of stickers. Over the next few days I purchased them all. Seeing Michel Dion included made it all the more special.

10. 1971 Topps #2 Dock Ellis

1971 is a great looking set in baseball. For whatever reason Topps included a great many shots of the Pirates at the brand new Three Rivers Stadium. I deffo got this card from a pack.
