My Top 10 Favorite Bo Jackson Cards (1990-1991) (That I own)

by midbellman - 10 cards (Last updated on Dec 18, 2014)

10. 1991 Score #773 Bo Jackson

One of the cool things that I remember Bo doings was breaking bats over his knee. I don't think he did it very often, but it was talked about all the time between me and my friends.

9. 1990 Baseball Cards Magazine '69 Topps Repli-Cards #41 Bo Jackson

I have several of these magazine cards and I like the simplistic fronts. For me, simpler is better. I am not sure about the pink back though. It's Bo Jackson for crying out loud. Can't he get a more manly color for his back? :-)

8. 1990 The Shanks Collection (unlicensed) #30 Bo Jackson

I chose this card strictly because the name of the set. "The Shanks" sounds like some type of disease you get after a slumpbuster didn’t work.

7. 1990 Bowman - Sweepstakes (Tiffany) #NNO Bo Jackson

If you saw my last Bo Jackson top ten, you know that I like cards that are caricatures. These art insert are very well done and I wouldn't mind someday actually getting the lithograph.

6. 1990 Topps Stickers #155 Bo Jackson

This card is 2 in 1. Not only is it a Bo Jackson Sticker, but also a Bo Jackson Sticker Back. I wasn't a huge fan of the 88, 89, & 90 sticker cards because there are so many variations. Now that I am actually getting into variation cards, I think they are a lot cooler.

5. 1990 Topps Heads Up #8 Bo Jackson

Here is my "Non-Card" card for the list. It is a fully cut out head. It comes with a suction cup and a strip of adhesive on the back. Any card that is different than the normal rectangular shape, for me, is fun to collect.

4. 1990 Little Big Leaguers #NNO Bo Jackson

I actually have the full set of these cards and the 1991 as well. Little league brings back a lot of fun memories. I wasn't very good, but it keep me busy for the summer. It reminds me that these guys, that I collect, were at one time kids, just like I was.

3. 1991 Kalifornia Kardz Japanese (unlicensed) #NNO Bo Jackson

When I first saw this card I did a double take. Did Bo Jackson ever play in Japan? The answer is no, but the writing on the back of the card is definitely interesting. After I did my double take, I had to get this card. Wow 1 billion yen!

2. 1990 Upper Deck #105 Bo Jackson

This was my favorite card from when I was a kid. I thought that the hat flying off was one of the coolest action shots that I have seen. If you have read any of my other top ten lists, you know that I prefer cards with action shots instead of poses.

1. 1990 Score #697 BO

I don't think that there is a more famous sports poses from this era than this pose of Bo Jackson. The "Bo Knows" era was huge. He brought all sports together in the Nike cross training ads, though his guitar playing skills were less than impressive. Do you agree with my list? What are your favorite cards from this era? I would love to read comments from other collectors and respond.

BOBSCARZ, I have many oddball/offbeat cards of Bo. Most not in tradingcarddb. Everyonce and a while I see a new one that I have never seen before and it automatically goes on my "got to have" list.

JimStaub, I have 2 sets of that particular set and totally forgot to add it to this list. Tradingcarddb didn't have this set listed under Bo Jackson's name. I have now fixed that. I think the horse racing one is pretty funny, too.

Bo broke a bat over his helmet before as well. I can't even imagine how that's possible. Like a twig he broke it. He had some freakish brute strength.

BOBSCARZ, I do have some of those cards. I never understood why The Simpsons and Bo Jackson were meshed together. Joeyd011, I do remember seeing that he broke the bat over his helmet. The man was a freak of nature.

I take it the RoboBo and Simpson Bo ones aren't in the database? I couldn't find them when I checked the other day. I got them and the Japanese Bo card for Christmas with a couple other random Bo cards.

A lot of the Bo oddball cards are only one or two in a set. I know that you can post one card sets on tradingcarddb, but I haven't added any yet. I am right now working on getting all of my George Brett cards cataloged in my computer and once that's done I will start working on Bo Jackson. I don't get to work on it very often so it'll probably take a while. Thanks for commenting.
