Topps card #100by dsorek - 71 cards (Last updated on Feb 20, 2022) |
11. 2012 Topps #100 Jose Bautista
I actually forgot to add this originally. Jose is an awesome player and very worthy. He is the first and only (to date) Blue Jay to be honored. (My Tigers have never had a card #100 - interesting!). The 2012 design was OK. It would've been better if it had the position on the front. The backs were very plain. |
12. 2011 Topps #100 Albert Pujols
I liked the foil edge design around the name and the simplicity of using the logo over a baseball. 2 years in a row for Mr. Pujols and 3rd time honoree. |
13. 2010 Topps #100 Albert Pujols
I didn't care for this design much because I thought the words of the team were too big and I like the use of a logo. Albert was honored for the 2nd time with card #100. |
14. 2009 Topps #100 David Wright
A very popular player, but I'm not a Mets fan so I haven't followed David Wright's career much. Steady player. The design was fair with the logo on home plate in the corner. |
15. 2008 Topps #100 Ryan Howard
A lot of people refer to this as the clown set, but I actually thought this set looked a little retro with an homage to the 1960's designs and styles. I liked it. I liked the field on the back as well. Ryan seems to have been plagued by injuries lately and I was hoping he would've had a longer, successful career. Topps goes 15 years without autographs and then goes back to back. I liked it when they seemed do it every few years. |
16. 2007 Topps #100 Dontrelle Willis
Although I liked Topps' attempt at a black border card, I did not like this set at all. Too many irrational variations and there were some really bad airbrushed photos in this set. Dontrelle was a worthy recipient of the honor in 2007, but it was sad to see him come to the Tigers and flame out completely. I was really hoping he would've done some awesome things for Detroit. Best thing about the trade was bringing Cabrera with him to Detroit. Thank you Mr. Dombrowski! First time since 1982 (25 years!) They issued cards with autographs. |
17. 2006 Topps #100 Barry Bonds
2nd time Barry was honored. I never liked him as a player, but I know a lot of others do. I didn't care for this set design front too much because it was a little too much foil. I do like the homage to the cartoons on the back however. This set marked the return to the standard 660 card set until 2015. |
18. 2005 Topps #100 Albert Pujols
Albert's first honor as card #100. I like the use of the name in script as it appears on the jerseys on the card. I do get this set and the 2004 set mixed up a lot. |
19. 2004 Topps #100 Alex Rodriguez
This design was a clear homage to the 1973 design. I like the outline of the player in a position that it's in on the card so each is unique. A-Rod's 2nd card #100 and with a different team. |
20. 2003 Topps #100 Ichiro
Ichiro was a fun player to watch in the AL for well over a decade and he always found a way to get a hit...or 200 of them every year. I liked this design of the card. It has the logo on the front and the blue border was a nice break. |

Actually, 1982 - 2007 is 25 years without facsimile signatures, not 15!

Thanks for the list! It was a fun trip down memory lane.
| ||
Nice list. Not to be a party pooper but you are missing 2012.
| ||
Great list, by the way. I really enjoyed looking at these.
| ||
Open the list! I wanna see....
| ||
Outstanding work. I love that Topps does this. And I love looking through the cards through the ages. I assume you'll now do 200s, 300s.... ??
| ||
very cool brotha...I love the way Topps honors the great players...I thought UD was onto something with Griffey and their number one card in 89, buuutttt.....nope...
| ||
I'd like to look back at number 1's...
| ||
Ugh. Still love the list, but learned through you that career stats are gone. So painful. Trying not to hate the messenger.

The 1953 Topps cards were not airbrushed. They were all individual oil paintings by artist Gerry Dvorak. | ||
Woah, full stats are back for 2019. That's worth an extra star or two on the 'ol rating, that's for sure.
