1991 Bowman

1991 looks very close to 1990 and the brand hadn't seemed to capture much interest as the old acquired competitor to Topps that was brought back in 1989 as demand for cards was skyrocketing in the junk era. They have a clean layout on traditional Topps card stock and the backs are unique with stats vs other teams. What makes them interesting are the RC's. Where Topps has Chipper, 1991 Bowman has 5 HOF'ers (Chipper Jones, Jim Thome, Mike Mussina, Ivan Rodriguez and Jeff Bagwell)! There are other RCs of strong players of the 90's (Javy Lopez, Tim Salmon, Kenny Lofton, Eric Karros, etc.)

2018 April...While trolling the Mall the other day I walk into a antique store a collection of items ranging from toys, WWII items to sports card of the past. There were several packs of cello packs of 1991 Bowman my girlfriend bought them and she open them in the car., I notice the clean lines of the card design knowing i had some 91 bowman stashed in some boxes in my basement so, i decided to build the binder set. This summer shouldn't be too hard to pick up a box or two at our local Flee Market that hold tons of card shops and open tables. | ||
This set needs some love. It's a simple clean design and rather pretty. Not to mention the great crop of rookie cards. |
