why isn't the reds team card #641listed in the hall of famers for '73?

My very first card was out of a bubble gum pack from this set; Lou Brock's #320. I was in Little League at the time and bought the gum after a game.

No idea where that card is now.

This is the earliest set that I remember. I can't remember how I got the cards and don't remember open packs. They may have been doubles from either a family member or a neighbor who collected. But I do remember that these were the first baseball cards that I saw and they got me started collecting.

1st pack ever opened age 9 just looking for reds cards traded all the rest off.

Card #645 of Bob Locker is a photo of him on the A's and airbrushed to look like the Cubs. The outfielder who is also airbrushed into a Cubs uni is believed to be Reggie Jackson as he did spend some time in center field.

By far my favorite cards. I love the action shots they used; although they seemed to get a little lazy with some of the photos from spring training. It was either spring training or they were able to find some palm trees in Detroit for Al Kaline to pose in front of.

This is the first year I bought packs and got me interested until this day! I remember jim Strickland because of the comic on the back that he threw a fork ball. And a fork was in the ball. I think or maybe a screw one or the other!

This is the first set I remember opening a pack. I’m sure I brought some earlier. I got a Hank Aaron, Willie Davis and Wes Parker all in that one pack. I still have the Willie Davis and Wes Parker cards. I don’t know what happen to the Hank Aaron card. I started collecting cards about 1974. Good memories!

Best set of the 1970s. The card design is good, not great, but what really makes the set shine is the photography -- a dramatic improvement over the almost exclusive use of mug shots from the sets of the 1960s. Though some of the action shots are a bit confusing and amateurish, most are very well done. I especially like the horizontal action shots. This is the first set I ever started to collect and now 40 something years later I am finally close to completing.

I was 9 years old and I was at an old fashioned drug store with a friend and his mom. I remember seeing the cards near the counter and buying 10 packs for $1.00. I pulled Roberto Clemente’s last card, I am a huge Pirates fan, and still have that card to this day. I finally completed the set as an adult about 15 years ago.

The first pack of trading cards that I ever opened was 1973 Topps Baseball. I was visiting my grandmother in Cincinnati and we walked down to the corner store. The first card that I remember getting was Cesar Geronimo of the Cincinnati Reds. How can that really be 45 years ago?

First pack I ever opened, I remember it well because my brother and I badgered our parents to let us collect. It was 1974 and local store had the 1974 cards in stock but parents always said no, then couple weeks later at a grocery store we rarely visited we saw the three panel cello packs of 1973 cards, we didn't know squat at the time, our parents said yes and we were off. That day was the only 1973 cards we ever bought but we did score a Schmidt Rookie(lol) and we went on to collect most of the 1974 set (which had Jesus in it-another lol) we would finish the 1974 set around 1983 when a card shop opened near our house.

After 41 years of collecting baseball cards, this is still my favorite set. This set has a lot of sentimental value to me probably because this is when I started collecting. I still remember buying and opening the ten cent packs, and cramming 5 or 6 pieces of that great Topps bubble gum in my mouth! It was a great time to be a kid.

THE best Topps set ever! This set broke the mold in 1 big and important way--IN ACTION shots. Previous actions shots were very limited in number. This set has tons of them. Bill Freehan #460 is one of the best.
