Rick Miller was the leadoff batter on April 12, 1978. Facing starting pitcher Pete Redfern for the Minnesota Twins, he walked in his first at bat and then scored on a bases loaded walk. Later that same inning, the Twins brought in reliever Gary Serum to face Miller, this time with the bases loaded, and Rick hit a grand slam home run. The Angels won that day 9-5. It was Rick's only home run that season. Rick won his one and only Gold Glove award in 1978. |
