  • Initially only in Series I wax packs, the Joe DiMaggio promotion was extended to blister packs with 100 signed and 12,000 unsigned DiMaggio cards randomly inserted into blister packs.
  • Each blister pack contained 50 cards from Series I and 50 cards from Series II and one "Hot Rookies" insert.
  • Five DiMaggio autographed cards could be won through a sweepstakes drawing.
  • Print ads for Series II featured Don Mattingly swinging and sample cards above with the tagline, "Series 2 Baseball...For Pack-To-Pack Action!"
  • Cards 736-772 are found with or without the "ROOKIE PROSPECT" stripe.

My favorite baseball card set, very colorful and different, clean design and crisp pictures. I'm a fan of the Score sets but I feel that this one is far ahead from the before and after sets.

I like the appearance of the cards, a clean design with good pictures of the player. The set is a bit too big for those year, about 100 cards too many.

Maybe insanely bad luck, but I collected this set as a kid and got an insane number of duplicates. Going back through them, my dupe ratio is way too high for having made middling progress on the whole set.... annoying.
