Trivia

  • This set is unique in that the titles are distributed unequally on the sheet. For example, the last four titles on the checklist (Lavirus, Paul Maul, Mutt's, and Bandache) are all printed once on the sheet. For this reason, those titles are much rarer than others such as Maddie Boy - which was printed six times per sheet.
  • 48 packs per box. Each pack contained 2 stickers, 1 checklist and a piece of gum.

Hello,
I'm new to this site. Wacky Packages were the first trading cards I collected in 1975. I was 9 years old when my cousin got me into "Wackys" then onto Baseball cards then Hockey cards. All Topps of course. The 1st Series original Wacky Packages had four types of backing. The most common backing was the white-back. This card stock was only used in 1st & 2nd Series. Eventually, white-backs returned in the 14th, 15th and 16th Series. The second type of backing for 1st Series was the Tan-back. Tan-backs were used in 14 of the 16 Series and are slightly more difficult to find. Even more difficult to find are the Ludlow-backed cards in 1st Series. "Ludlow" was a brand name of card stock. Two types of Ludlow-backed cards and they were only found in the 1st and 2nd Series. Black Ludlow-backed and Red. The Red Ludlow-backed cards in the 1st Series are rare, and expensive. The rarest Wacky (to my knowledge) in the 1st Series is Band-Ache. A Black Ludlow Band-Ache has gone as high as $699, and a Red Ludlow Band-Ache has been priced for $3,000!!!! Keep in mind these are the original 1973 1st Series Wackys and not the reprints beginning in 1979 to 2022. I love these cards and still have my collection. Contact me if you have any questions or wish to chat about these wonderful stickers.

Now I can't say for sure, but I believe the first pack of trading cards I ever purchased (or my parents purchased) was these, but I have many Trading cards of the past, Wacky Packages, Star Wars, Star Trek, Hulk, Galactica, Charlie's Angels, Happy Days, Superman, Close Encounters, Jaws 2, Batman, Jurassic Park, TRON, so many more. Trading Cards, Mad Magazine, and Starlog Magazine were the BIG thing for me as a kid. I still have all that stuff from my childhood. This site rocks!!!!

There are nine different checklist backs which come together to form a Gadzooka puzzle

There is a typo on the checklist, "Jail-O Desert" should be "Jail-O Dessert".

I added all of the white backs because there are multiple back variations.
