Set: 1975 Topps (Rate)

Card: #395 Ron Johnson

“ I presume this was taken at training camp, which would account for the lack of a uniform. At least you can see his face. The back design is a bit unusual but I rather like it. ” -John Kerry

“ 70s cards are cool in any sport. The back is really cool on this design. Without the helmet, this front design could be used for any sport. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I like that it is old but this is not a well done front. The picture looks so generic, nothing looks like football at all. The football helmet looks weird to me. Pink and yellow should never be used together, especially on a football card. As much as the front bothers me, the back is amazing. I would give the front a 3 and the back a 10. ” -davidhandberry

“ Six years in the league and the best photo they can come up with is a portrait of him basically standing in a park in street clothes? ” -rmpaq5

“ RIP, he just passed away on the 10th. ” -carthage44

“ Ron Johnson. All Time chill name team. Great looking card. Love this set. ” -parsley24

“ Not bad card. ” -Kirbythedodger

“ A familiar face, as he is currently on the home page In Memoriam. Been seeing him for a few days now. ” -switzr1

“ Cool 1975 Vintage Football! Like a zillion other 1975 football cards I probably need this one for the set. Of the 528 cards in the set I only have 15 listed here. I KNOW I have much more than that total in my card hoard. ” -captkirk42

“ Ron Johnson died 5 days ago. Incredible running back at the University of Michigan. First black captain at the school. "Johnson was an All-American for the Wolverines in 1968 when he set a school record that still stands with 347 yards rushing against Wisconsin. He ran for 1,391 yards that season and scored a school-record 19 touchdowns, another record that still stands." -- Associated Press He had a few good years in the pros. He will be missed. GO BLUE. Terrible card. ” -cjjt

“ Wonderful card and I love the pin ballish design on the back. I never understood the colors though and why they didn't always align to the teams back in the day. Whatever though, a complete set of these would be awesome! ” -muskie027

“ Vintage Football and something I purchase when I was child. ” -kirkscards

“ nice classic topps design, always wondered why they made the helmet with a smashed facemask though ” -Thunderfoot

“ This is what 1982 was able to improve upon when Topps got the proper licensing. ” -Splinter_9

Set: 2017-18 Panini Flawless Collegiate - Team Logo Signatures Gold (Rate)

Card: #TLS-KAT Karl-Anthony Towns

“ Nice, high-end, low-numbered autograph of a superstar player. I would guess this might be the most expensive RCOTD we've had. Although the gold logo is a bit of an eyesore. Maybe looks better in hand. Otherwise, a great card. ” -switzr1

“ I will presume the fault is with the scan but whatever that thing on the left is the fact you can't read it makes it rather useless and a distraction from the overall look of the card. ” -John Kerry

“ Big fan of the player! Too bad it's a college card. Great scan. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Sure you couldn’t get any more white on this card ” -aussiewayne

“ My mother taught me as a boy, if you have nothing nice to say about something don't say anything at all.... ” -davidhandberry

“ Nice on card autograph. I wish they got rid of stickers and just kept the on card autographs. ” -mrrosado

“ OK looking card except what is that foil thing? Team Logo? Doesn't scan well. ” -captkirk42

“ Amazing what passes for a signature these days. The front of the card is bland to me, but I enjoy the college photo cards. ” -jackal726

“ Interesting card. Nice scan for SN10. ” -Kirbythedodger

“ Not impressed by the gold blob. Hopefully it looks better in person. ” -NJDevils

“ OK looking card. I'm not wowed. Note to KAT: see note to Fred Jones from RCotD a few days ago. You have room for improvement. ” -kents_stuff

“ Classy looking auto, I like it. ” -muskie027

Set: 2009 Topps 206 (Rate)

Card: #134 Travis Snider

“ Is the card back stained or is it supposed to look like that? ” -Billy Kingsley

“ When these vintage looking cards first started I really liked them. The nostalgia has waned for me. My biggest problem is the lack of a first name and team name on many of the fronts. ” -davidhandberry

“ Travis looks very pensive....deep thoughts. ” -rmpaq5

“ Good looking vintage card. ” -parsley24

“ Loved these retro cards when they came out. I think I have way too many cards to chase to build the set. But whatever that is typical for all the zillions of sets I'm trying to "build". A lifetime of completing very few sets. However, the internet makes it easier to build them now-days. ” -captkirk42

“ Ooh, I like this one. The only Allen and Ginter card I have of him looks sort of like this. ” -Kirbythedodger

“ I did not like these Blue Jays uniforms at all ” -switzr1

Set: 2002-03 Bowman Signature Edition (Rate)

Card: #SE-FJ Fred Jones

“ Cool, an auto. Nice! ” -muskie027

“ The first NBA set that didn't use numbers. Drove me nuts then, still does. Didn't stop me from collecting it heavily. Each pack had an autograph. Most of the rookies signed, although some did not. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Oh, I just got his autograph at a game a year or two ago, on an 8x10. I liked Fred. He won that slam dunk contest too. ” -switzr1

“ I’m sure a lot of people will blast him for not signing his full name and only his initials but hey, if I had to sign a ton of cards for a company, my hand would get tired and I’d be inclined to become a little lazy. ” -jasongerman9

“ Nice design but bad color scheme. OH this is a Relic with Auto or is it an Auto with Relic? ” -captkirk42

“ Initials are not an autograph. And autographs are not signatures. Of course, Topps didn't leave enough space for an either. The card's a contradiction of terms. It's called Signature Edition but the front states Autograph Issue. And neither is actually on this card. ” -C2Cigars

“ Memo to Fred Jones: you have FABULOUS penmanship. That is an absolutely beautiful "FJ". I really wish you would consider autographs with your full name. Do you know how many kids today have lousy penmanship and don't care? It would have been a great role model thing to do. With all that said: really nice memorabilia card. ” -kents_stuff

Set: 2012 Bowman - Gold (Rate)

Card: #139 Jacory Harris

“ Nice set. Looks like the Dolphins RC cards look nicer than my Redskins RCs. :( ” -captkirk42

“ I don't understand what's going on here. This is clearly a licensed card yet the jersey is totally blank- not even a number. I'm guessing that it may have been a college jersey that's been airbrushed. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I really like this card which is rare for me to say about a Bowman card. The only issue I am sure I will have is that it is a Gold parallel which means it's one of the dozen or so different parallels that Bowman made. Also I am wondering how many people are going to complain about Topps not having emblems on the helmets/jerseys, like they do with Panini on baseball cards. I miss the days of everyone being able to use the emblems. ” -davidhandberry

“ Other than the non-descript uniform and helmet, not a bad looking card at all. "Dolphins" might be just a tad big on the font size, but I can live with it. ” -kents_stuff

“ Not familiar with this, is it unlicensed? Why no logos? I remember Jacory Harris in college, never knew the pros gave him a cup of coffee. Card has an artsy look. Kind of cool. ” -muskie027

“ This is a pretty ok card. ” -parsley24

“ Well, there's no doubt what team drafted him! ” -switzr1

Set: 2004 Topps 1st Edition (Rate)

Card: #187 Aubrey Huff

“ The 1st Edition cards are NOT parallels. They were issued in packs and boxes of their own, about half the size as the regular hobby box. There were no inserts or parallels to be found in the 1st Edition boxes. They were literally just the same as the base cards other than the foil 1st Edition logo. They were only available at Home Team Advantage dealers. Even though they serve almost no real purpose I bought them every year in my sport. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Not a bad card. Aubrey Huff had a few good years. ” -muskie027

“ One of the bland white border Topps cards from the early 2000's on to about 2014 I believe. I can't tell most of them apart. I wasn't collecting at this time and am catching up. Is 1st edition like Opening Day? If not what is the difference? ” -davidhandberry

“ Wow. Maybe I'm not observant, or maybe I've never seen one. But I loved the border silhouettes on '73 Topps and '63 Fleer and such. But to actually use the card's photo image as the basis of the silhouette is even better somehow. Pretty cool, in my book. ” -kents_stuff

“ 2004 Topps around the time I started to return to the hobby. It took me a couple of years to realize that the little cartoon image on the bottom was in the exact pose the player was in, not just a generic position character like the early 70s cards from Football. Dang 1st edition with the only difference being the foil stamped "1st Edition" logo (and how it was distributed I think).Oh Yes I do like this design, back pretty standard modern Topps design. ” -captkirk42

“ Great picture. I love that the little guy in the corner matches the player. ” -cjjt

Set: 1993 Rembrandt Ultra-Pro Karros (Rate)

Card: #2 Eric Karros

“ Unusual to see the Ultra-Pro logo on a card, when it's mostly associated with pages. I like it though, even if the team logo and apparently jersey number have been removed. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Pretty basic card design, which is a pleasant change from too many bells and whistles. The portrait on the back is different as it shows him in regular apparel. ” -John Kerry

“ I honestly don't remember Ultra Pro putting their own cards out. Uninspired design and generic, airbrushed logo free uniforms? I'll take a hard pass on this, like I do all unlicensed cards. ” -AtarianX

“ When the hobby was so hot, the supplies companies had to get into the act of creating merch of their own! ” -stevejrogers

“ Super cheap cards. Not a fan. Better than Score tho. ” -parsley24

“ I don't recall these. Wow an early 1990s "legitimate" Unlicensed card? What I mean is an unlicensed card made in the early 1990s that followed the trademark and copyright laws. No logos not even the team name mentioned. It seems that during the 1990s unlicensed cards could at least mention the team name at the time. But what do I actually know? ” -captkirk42

“ Cool card, but where's the logo?! ” -Kirbythedodger

“ What a strange little Eric Karros subset. ” -kents_stuff

Set: 2004 Upper Deck USA 25th Anniversary - Signatures Black Ink (Rate)

Card: #WEEK Rickie Weeks

“ Using letters to number a card is...weak. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ This is one of the laziest sets I have ever seen. The front is nice if they had done anything with the back it would have been a solid card. The front I would give an 8. The only issue I have with the front is I prefer on card autographs. The back ruins it when the use the exact same photo, the exact same layout they just changed what was in the two bottom boxes. It was an 8 for the front, a 0 for the back, overall I would say 3 and that is being generous. ” -davidhandberry

“ Great looking design with the flag in the background. The placement of the sticker is well done. I saw Weeks play many games at Miller Park. A big guy for a second basemen. He was playing at 220 pounds during his last few seasons. ” -weight333

“ UGH. Not a good design for any kind of card. Sorry Upper Deck. Front and back exact same? Looks too generic. ” -captkirk42

“ Nice card. Love autos. ” -Kirbythedodger

“ I think I remember Weeks...Was he ever a Brewer? This may be the laziest card back ever! Numbering in this set is based on player surname. I wonder if they made a conscious decision to number this card "WEEK", rather than "WEE"? ” -dilemma19

“ Bad pun alert - This Weeks card is weak. A sticker auto with the same photo front and back (same size even!) Even the card number is WEEK. Weak. ” -vrooomed

“ Points off for having the same photo on the front as the back. ” -kirkscards

“ What a horrible numbering ("numbering") scheme. The card itself is a bit boring on the scan, but I admit it might look awesome in real life. ” -kents_stuff

Set: 1994 Vision Generation Extreme (Rate)

Card: #111 Danny Kim

“ I have no idea what bodyboarding is but that seems a decent action shot. Never saw these when they came out. Back has a nice portrait shot and a decent amount of information. All in all a nice card. ” -John Kerry

“ Nice action shot on the front. I want to bash this set but it actually looks better than most major sports sets. ” -davidhandberry

“ Looks like capitalization rules weren't know in 1994... ” -Eofet

“ Wow An Extreme Sport card. Nice to see a sport not normally seen. Pity I'm not a surfhead. Maybe that Brady Bunch in Hawaii episode where Greg wipes out because of the ancient tiki idol thing got to my head at a very early age. ” -captkirk42

“ I had no idea pro bodyboarding had cards. I like that though because I feel every professional sport should get cards. As for the card itself, the design is not bad. The text on the back grates on me by being all lowercase. The first name only on the front is also a detraction. Is that a typo on knee or is kne a thing in that sport? ” -Billy Kingsley

“ ooh, a surfer! ” -Kirbythedodger

“ These early 90s graphics are so horrible. all sports almost all graphics. They all remind me of a mid saturday morning tv show for kids. not quite a cartoon, not quite an adult product. ” -parsley24

“ That's pretty gnarly ” -switzr1

“ Well there is something you don't see everyday. ” -muskie027

Set: 2003 Press Pass - Reflectors (Rate)

Card: #R21 Lee Suggs

“ I do believe this is my only SN college football card. What are the odds it would come up as Card of the Day? About one in 2.3 million, I guess. The entire card front is holofoil, which scans as if lit up from behind. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ It's a nice action shot on the front. Too bad they have to ruin it by putting just the head again down below. A team name on the front would help. The back is perfection for a football card with a helmetless photo and stats and numbered but not to an impossible amount. Overall I would give this card a 9. If they replaced the small picture on the front with a team logo then a 10 easy. ” -davidhandberry

“ Nice pictures--3 different. ” -cjjt

“ Reflector, not to be confused with Refractor. Nice looking card. ” -switzr1

“ not a big fan off press pass stuff, i think it comes form being a kid and not having a team made it hard to sort, ” -Thunderfoot

“ Wow nice looking Press Pass card. If I were big into college uniform cards I'd love it, but I don't like college cards outside of Univ. Maryland in the MD uniform or some of my PC players that made the pros. ” -captkirk42

“ Not that bad of a card, actually. ” -Kirbythedodger

“ Not a bad looking card. Being a primarily baseball guy, I'm not so familiar with PressPass outside of the RCotD feature of this site. Few have really left an impression, but I do like this one. ” -kents_stuff

“ I have never be very interested in collecting football cards but since joining the DB, I am finding them very interesting. I really like the action photos many have. I may have to start collecting. ” -chemistclete

“ Really nice card. I've never seen this before, but I like it. Suggs was a great college RB for the Hokies. ” -muskie027
