Random Card of the Day

Year: 1996-97

Set: Fleer - Lucky 13 (Rate)

Card: #6 Antoine Walker

“ Would have been a nice picture if they hadn't imposed that hideous background. ” -C2Cigars

“ This set was quite rare back in the day- and probably still is. Walker was a good player in his day but his career was hampered by his ego. He later became the first player to wear #88 in NBA history. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Just in case you didnt see the photo on the front of the card, we put the exact same one on the back. ” -NJdevils

“ Awful and ugly card. UGH. Do away with the weird background and it would be OK. The base cards for this set are OK but this insert set is UGLY with a capital UGH. ” -captkirk42

“ Look! Up in the sky! Its a bird, its a plane, oh oops, its just Antoine Walker! Fun card designs. ” -Rod_Davis_86

“ The background is hideous. ” -carthage44

“ This is that time period when cards got awesome again. Even though I don't always like fake backgrounds, this one works for me. ” -switzr1

Walker graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in Chicago along with Simeon Rice and Donovan McNabb. I believe he recently filed for bankruptcy.

All the insert sets for Fleer had awful designs. Get dizzy just looking at them.

I didn't want to post it up in the "official" Card of the Day post, but I am almost sure that these were redemption cards. After nearly 20 years my memory is not as good as it once may have been.

Yes, skrezyna, he did declare bankruptcy. Welcome to the best card website on the internet!

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.

I think you are right about that Billy.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff.  Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
