“ Non-Sport BABY! Beanie Babies *chuckle*. Back in that day (1999) Beanie Babies were THE Collectible. Oddly it was because of beanie babies that I first heard about Ebay in 1998. Some girls/women I knew from my community theatre work were really into them and mentioned Ebay. The first few auctions I bid on were for some Beanie baby bears. I recall trying for the Jerry Garcia tiedyed beanie teddy bear, and some other maybe a dog or cat. I don't remember exactly which ones. Didn't win them because I only went up to maybe $20 and was so newbie to Ebay I would only bid in individual increments not my "max" bid back then. ” -captkirk42

“ Hahaha, it's so qoot! ” -wax_house

“ Just when I thought I've seen it all... ” -C2Cigars

“ Are any of these still valuable? ” -carthage44

SFC Temple - a ton is 2,000 lbs; a metric ton is 2,200 lbs (1,000 kilograms).  A kilogram is equal to 2.2 lbs.  Needless to say, I am Canadian who was in school when the metric system was adopted in Canada.

Ugh, I remember when beanie baby tables took over all the weekly card shows in Chicago. I didn't know they had cards. All the women I worked with at my late-90s job collected these. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the ones I heard about ebay from like captkirk too. But my first bid was Starting Lineups.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff.  Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
