Year: 1991-92

Set: Parkhurst French (Rate)

Card: #404 Pavel Bure

“ At some point somebody is going to have to explain how this set can have the stats for the season it's part of on the card back. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ ...and now, a word from our sponsor... ” -revnorb

“ Oui! Parkhurst parlevous Françiois! (I spelled that so bad.) I’m a sucker for marble designs so I like this card. ” -IfbBirdsCards

“ Recrue! ” -vrooomed

“ Not a fan of horizontal cards, but I was a huge Russian Rocket fan. Great player ” -suomibear8

“ Russian mafia member. ” -carthage44

“ Nice card could use the team logo. French cards? I thought this was a family friendly site. Oh wait it's the early 20th century French Post Cards we aren't allowed to show. ” -captkirk42

“ Love the photo choice for the "Russian Rocket." This was a nice year for the Parkhurst design IMO. ” -mkaz80

“ Méfiez-vous des fausses cartes de recrue. ” -DanD

“ Fantastic action shot, but not crazy about the bottom info bar. It looks like stained concrete from a mall. ” -Sportzcommish

“ Yikes. Not liking a lot about this card. I thought I remember liking this Parkhurst set. Something ugly here, mainly the colors. The brown and seafoam green look awful together, especially with the Canucks colors, which I have to admit, absolutely loved back in the day. The brown line looks like it is on an up diagonal and the centering on the back seems all off. Loved Bure, loved early 90's Canucks, not loving this particular card. ” -muskie027

Billy as it is series 2 and how much Lud Denny loved a living set I would say that is the reason, check others in that series and most likely they will have the same

My all time favorite player , and somehow I missed this. I feel like I used to own this card but I'm sure I don't now.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff.  Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Nice set, one of the few I collected once I got back into collecting

-------------------------------

Trying to acquire one card for every for every set, insert, parralle, minor, euro, team issue, oddball etc sets produced for Hockey. Been an interesting project.

I keep forgetting that these were produced by Pro Set. I have a few from both the English and French in my collection. I keep having to look up which design is which year since they both have the stats from the same seasons on them.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.

Yes, these are pain to differentiate.   I know when I first added a couple, I was definitely puzzled  by them

If I had been collecting them at that time, it probably wouldn't be so bad. The sets I collected new I usually never have to look up (not counting some of the inserts/subsets, and the Press Pass Eclipse NASCAR sets which all looked pretty much alike for 5 years). But in 1991 and 1992 I had never heard of hockey beyond air hockey at the arcades. And of course, thanks to my stupid (lack of) eyesight, I couldn't follow ice hockey until last November because I couldn't see what was going on.

If I had better eyesight / an HD-capable phone with TV on it at arm's length, I could have been folliwing the NHL since 1995-96. That's when I first played floor hockey in school and absolutely loved it. Tried watching the ice hockey on TV at that time but couldn't figure out what was going on and didn't stick with it. Now I'm disappointed in all the years...and all the cheap hockey cards I could have gotten...that have slipped away. Sure making up for lost time now, but it's not quite the same as actually living it.

I can relate, Billy. I've only been into soccer for about six or seven years, and wish I had been watching longer.
