“ Yawn. Zzzzzzzzz. ” -Sportzcommish

“ One of the strangest headshots I've seen. Looks like he's happily being swallowed. ” -olerud363

“ I'm not huge into auto racing, and less so into auto racing trading cards, but I do appreciate both. But my opinion of the best design of racing card is driver on front, car on back. Having two 'candid' shots of the driver with no 'action' doesn't seem as exciting to me. ” -Brimose

“ Never saw such a bland, nondescript card before. ” -NJDevils

“ I'm guessing this is a racing card. WHERE'S HIS CAR? ” -captkirk42

“ Good photos, but hard to red the front. ” -kents_stuff

“ this guy has raced on more races then most of us will ever see, retired from nascar but still running his dirt car every week ” -Thunderfoot

“ Hey, I got another RCOTD! To be honest I didn't like this set that much, but glad I got it. I loved NASCAR so much more back at this time. ” -jupiterhill

“ I thought it was a non sport card. Nothing about this says Racing to me. ” -switzr1

I totally missed writing about this one...how'd that happen? I loved this set when it was new, but now not so much. It's all mirror foil. In 1996, when I was 12, that was great. Now that I'm scanning my collection, not so much. Unfortunately since he was sponsored by Budweiser they would have censored his car even if they had shown it- his hat has been censored on the back of the card. For some reason, even though I had a local card shop, I got a box of this set off of QVC back when it was new. I finally completed the set in 2009. I think it may have been the first hobby NASCAR box I'd ever done.

Edited to correct typo

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.

The one thing that most are complaining about (missing car) is being missed by the complainers. He is INSIDE the car on the front. Those black lines on his shoulders are the seatbelts (now would be a harness) and all of the background is the car and what lies outside of a window.

Billy explained why the car isn't on the card. Most racing cards with an alcohol or tobacco company as the sponsor will be censored! They were then and mostly continue to be censored today. That's a big part of why the "Winston Cup Series" (as it was named then) later became the Nextel Cup Series in 2004 (then Sprint Cup when Sprint bought Nextel). R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company was the main sponsor for at least 20 years and used Winston (both a cigarette brand-name and part of the name of the city where they are based) because it didn't have a real connection to cigarettes. Another sign of how times have changed things, RJR Tobacco is now called Reynolds American and actually owned Kraft Foods until last year when they sold it.
