Year: 2009

Set: Upper Deck 20th Anniversary (Rate)

Card: #922 Nomar Garciaparra

“ This is the largest set I know of...I have a card numbered in the 2200s. I love that. Big sets are better. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Mr. Mia Hamm! ” -royals

“ This was a bizarre set with its mix of sport and non-sport subjects and every photo duplicated on five different cards. The basic design is nice enough, I guess, but I can't imagine anyone wanting to collect the complete set. ” -bevans

“ While I enjoyed the concept of this set, like so many other Upper Deck projects, they just re-used the same photos over and over and over. ” -DaClyde

“ A massive set with 2,500 cards. ” -carthage44

“ This was a huge set, over 1000 cards. Luckily we got a sport card. I have several of these and the design is nice. Chasing this set would be a pain though. ” -IfbBirdsCards

“ On of the rare times an athlete marries a better athlete than themselves. Pretty cool card, but dont know why this guy just disappeared. ” -parsley24

“ Ah the Upper Deck 20th Anniversary impossible to collect the entire set because it is over 1000 cards (2500 according to the checklist here on the DB). It is a nice looking set and covers just about anything and everything in the sports, entertainment, politics and most anything else world(s). I haven't even taken the time to figure out which cards from this set I really really want to collect. I do have a handful, a couple of sports (basketball, maybe hockey or football) and one of "The Royals" (Princes William and Harry). So collecting the entire set and putting into a binder/binders would take 278 nine pocket pages (277 full pages plus one 7/9 full) single sided or 139 double stuffed. WOW. ” -captkirk42

“ I thought this set was neat in concept, but the design is boring and gimmicky. UD enjoyed about 10 years of fantastic design, but by the end of their MLB license the cards were stale. I don't remember Nomah being so olive-skinned. Maybe it's the scan. ” -dilemma19

“ In case anyone thought baseball wasn't a sport, Upper Deck made this Sports card. I've never quite figured out what this set is, because we have so few scans here. Unless that changed since I last looked. ” -switzr1

“ Very meh. Maybe an action shot of the first home run. Maybe if the pic was so small relative to the card. Maybe if the logo for Upper Deck wasn't so big. This just seems to miss the mark on so many levels. ” -muskie027

“ I always thought he did better at the altar than at the plate. ” -UKboogie

Such a massive set, unless you compare it to 2008 Upper Deck Documentary which is almost twice the site. Talk about base set collection challenges!
