Year: 1998-99
Set: Metal Universe (Rate)
Card: #20 Dikembe Mutombo
“ Sure the scan doesn't do this card justice. Fleer Metal has always been one of my favorite series in any sport. Great defensive player in Mutombo, miss those days trying to pull his and LJ's rookies. ” -Doc Floyd
“ Pretty cool pick. I hated those Hawks jerseys. ” -muskie027
“ One of my least favorite Metal set, because if you try to stack them, forget it, they topple. The player's name and the rivets are all embossed. The top bar where the same name and rivets are is mirror foil, while the background below is etched foil. Hard to pull a good scan out of. There are no rookies in this set because Series 2 was cancelled by the lockout, and replaced with Molten Metal. These cards are actually rare finds in repacks or as singles, don't think a lot of people opened them knowing there were no chance for rookie cards. I don't think I've gotten one out of a repack since maybe 2002. ” -Billy Kingsley
“ One of my favorite sets of all time. I was away from collecting when these came out and am always happy when I find them. I had a dog years ago partially named after Dikembe Mutombo, Manute Mutombo. Every time I hear his name the first thing that pops into my head is Dikembe Mutombo the fear of Zaire. ” -davidhandberry
“ 'Waving Finger' ” -carthage44
“ Great photo of a star doing what they do best. Good looking card. ” -parsley24
“ I can picture the finger waving... ” -suomibear8
“ Great pic, cool background overall great card. ” -Junk Wax Collector02
“ OY a Metal card. No thanks. Might look super cool in hand but scan stinks big time. I actually like the back image better for either side of a card than the "action" shot on the front. Don't like the sideways stats though. Forget "March Madness" this card is "90s Metal Madness" ” -captkirk42
“ Not today! ” -IfbBirdsCards
“ After 20 years, still trying to figure out why the "metal" cards are made from cardboard. ” -NJDevils
