Premier Plus was a very "fancy" card when they came out in 1993 and throughout the run. This set was ruined by the horribly designed backs though. The slew of funky colors on the front and back could have been eliminated to make the look of the cards much better. The front scan is horrible, but that's b/c of the card technology. Even with today's newest scanners, it's hard to get a good scan of those cards. The worst thing about Premier Plus cards is that they don't live well inside of packs for an extended period of time. Open some packs of these now and you'll get a bunch of ruined cards b/c they stuck together.
Billy, you missed something here. Topps made Finest in 1993 and that was the basis for the later Chrome sets. Finest and Premier Plus were basically the same technology. Maxx did a much better job with cutting those cards than Topps did though. It's very hard to find an early Finest card that isn't mis-cut in some way, but the MPP cards are mostly cut correctly.
