Year: 1997-98

Set: Pacific Omega - Game Face (Rate)

Card: #2 Teemu Selanne

“ Maybe because I don't watch hockey I am confused. What is the big white thing behind the player? What is with the swooping gold thing on the left? What does a large sun over half the player have to do with hockey? Why is he in front of the team logo? I am not even going to start on the back. This card just gives me a headache trying to figure it out. ” -davidhandberry

“ Say what you want about Pacific and their crazy parallels, but their insert sets were very innovative during the late 90s, as I feel this one is. Using acetate for cards was not new (Classic had been doing it for a few years already), but that was for entire cards. Pacific really raised the bar by combining the various new technologies. Doing something like this today would probably be considered "retro", but 20 years ago - which is what this was - this was a great set. ” -vrooomed

“ This card confuses me. What is going on? ” -kirkscards

“ Teemu forever. ” -wax_house

“ Is this an acetate card? diecut? diecut acetate? What the heck is with that white/gray thing? Very bizarre card. Not sure if I like it or hate it. Oh bizarre it is a Ducks Helmet. OH Now I get the "game face" reference. Still very bizarre card. Glad the Ducks are going to go back to this retro jersey design, or similar one with the duck on it for their alternate uniforms. Should be for their regular uniforms, they never should have gone to that webbed foot shaped "D" logo design. ” -captkirk42

“ Too busy of a card front just quickly glancing at it , it looks like a cross between an ice cannon and like he is riding some sort of ice/snow bicycle. Also for the title of it being a GAME FACE : it really should have a larger zoomed in pic of his face on back or some sort of action shot. ” -Big Ben

“ Gotta give Pacific credit--they were trying to do different things. Too bad they veered off into stupid parallels. Unique card. ” -cjjt

“ That is a lot of helmet on this card. ” -kents_stuff

“ Teemu!!! Too bad it's not my scan, but happy to see him for RCOTD. ” -suomibear8

Always liked Pacific for trying new things. I liked the helmet look for the cards in this set. I was working on the set when it came out. Ironically this was duplicated recently with the  Bucket insert set. 2014-15 Ultra.

Always nice to see hockey as the RCOTD.

Trying to acquire one card for every for every set, insert, parralle, minor, euro, team issue, oddball etc sets produced for Hockey. Been an interesting project.

It is a strange one. There is a place for being artsy, but not on a sports card. I want to see the player and better yet a player in action, doing their thing. Now a bunch of strange junk. That could have at least placed the sun on the right side, not over the player. They went too far in trying to be fancy and missed the point of, It's A Sports Card. I give it a C-.

What is that behind you!?! Oh, It's me! Looking at the cards you have, That I want.  :)

Bonjour Kate, welcome to the Database!

-------------------------------

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.
