Random Card of the Day

Year: 1991

Set: Star The Future (Rate)

Card: #32 Jeff Bagwell

“ Pretty basic card. Perhaps too much border but that was Star's style. Actually given the placement of all the information above and below the picture makes the border work. Also means the picture is uncluttered, which is nice. ” -John Kerry

“ I hate to comment on this card. I don't know why it is so faded but if this is what this card actually looks like in hand then this is probably the worst Bagwell card I have seen. ” -davidhandberry

“ We must have used some very strange inks (or colors) or maybe it's the UV glossy coating, but these cards do NOT scan well. What looks like a dull pink on the front and back is really a very bright orange! This series also contains Frank Thomas, Juan Gonzalez, Scott Erickson, and Ramon Martinez - yes, Pedro's older brother - as well as a few "sure fire" up and comers who fizzled pretty early. It's a gamble you take. Word was Brian McRae was going to be better than his father (Hal). This set is much better looking in hand. ” -vrooomed

“ Loved these card sets. ” -parsley24

“ I love this card. Very nostalgic and looks awesome. Bagwell! ” -Tylergallo

“ I was going to call this a minor league card at first, but "the Future" set seems to be Major League Rookies. Big Sigh. Now wonder I get confused with sets from the mid 1980s to the modern stuff. ” -captkirk42

“ Cool player. I am assuming this is MiLB? If so, cool to see an MiLB of a star! If not, the card does leave a lot to be desired. ” -muskie027

“ Cool card. I like it a lot. And Star was right about him. He's in the Hall of Fame now. ” -switzr1

I just purchased an 11-card Star "set" of Bagwell cards yesterday! This card was not included, and not even on my Want List - gotta add it!

That looks like neon text. Neon orange tends to scan at a peach color. (My auto-correct insisted on cobbler!) One of my scanners actually can do neons, luckily. Otherwise everything with 5th color technology would scan terribly.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.

Two things, Billy:

  1. LOVE LOVE LOVE peach cobbler, but can't have it anymore on low carb diet.
  2. What the heck is 5th color technology? I know there are three prime colors, after that I have no idea.

It's a term used in the comic book industry for special colors like neons. Kind of obscure, but you know me, the more obscure the better!  It's when you have a color not made by the standard four color system (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow)
