Random Card of the Day

Year: 1998

Set: Pinnacle Plus - Yardwork (Rate)

Card: #4 Nomar Garciaparra

“ The action shot I like, the background I don't. As for the name of this insert set, when I see the name yardwork I think of gardening and mowing the lawn. Not sure if a card of a ballplayer pruning the roses would be a hit but it is what I would expect to see. ” -John Kerry

“ I like the front, very late 90's look to it. The back though is very basic even for a insert card. I can't see a Nomar card without a thick Boston accent in my head saying Nooma. ” -davidhandberry

“ Insert set not sure what it is celebrating. Nice looking late 1990s card. ” -captkirk42

“ i forgot how big nomar's nose was/is. a true italian schnozzola there. ” -jamestagli

“ Looks like the picture was taken in an office and through the window that has window blinds open, you can see the field. Then they just edited out any of the stuff in the office. I don’t like it. ” -muskie027

“ Average looking card with a funny set name. "Yard Work", I am assuming means hitting home runs, and not helping the grounds crew chalk the running lane between bags. 8o) ” -CollectingAfterDeath

“ The late '90s gave us a flurry of innovative, colorful and attractive cards and concepts. This ain't one of them. Unmemorable, uninspired, and busy for no apparent reason. ” -mkaz80

“ Is it possible to have double digit homers without double digit RBIs? ” -switzr1

“ Terrible set... ” -KMack

@switzr1, it is not possible.  Knocking in yourself counts as an RBI and since on a home run you knock in yourself the lowest total for double digit home runs is 10 RBIs.  To get it this way you have to hit 10 home runs with nobody on base, so you would have 10 home runs and 10 RBIs.
