Random Card of the Day

Year: 2001-02

Set: Topps (Rate)

Card: #187 Walt Williams

“ The font Topps used for this set has always kind of annoyed me. I can read it easily, but the longer I look at it, the less I want to. The borders are metallic blue, but that is hard to capture in a scan. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I like this blue border. Is it a parallel? If not great job on a good looking base set Topps. I don't give out many 10 out of 10s but I like everything about this card. I honestly can't find a single negative. ” -davidhandberry

“ One of the absolute worst card designs of all time. ” -parsley24

“ Guess this was one of the last designs from the 1990s that Topps got out of its system? Looks OK in the scan, maybe a little better in hand. Back looks OK and colorful even with the 1980s computer fonts. I don't think I have any of my Wizards from this set. Then again this was a time I wasn't following Hoops closely. I still don't follow it as closely as the other 3 big sports. ” -captkirk42

“ Not sure why I am always surprised when I see and like a Topps set from the years I was out of the hobby. Topps is always nice. This is no exception. Nice card! Worst Rocket uniforms ever though. ” -muskie027

Lol. I really like the bottom border. I don't know why. It probably looks really good on the old Piston cards.

Every time I see the name Walt Williams, I immediately think of the baseball player  Walt "No-neck"  Williams.

Wow, that's a bad design.

I like this set.  I also agree with Muskie that these Rockets uniforms were real bad. Even their court looked ridiculous in this era.  Lots of bad unis In late 90s-early 00s, which may have contributed with the simple style so many teams use today.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff.  Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Those were the greatest jerseys in Rockets history. I wish they still wore them.

The first two cards in my NBA collection were wearing this jersey.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.

That's probably our age difference talking, Billy. You were probably a kid when they started wearing those.

I think I'm only two years younger than you. I was 11 when these debuted.
