Year: 2005

Set: Upper Deck Pro Sigs (Rate)

Card: #101 Daylan Childress

“ A lot of border and not a lot of player. Feels a bit overdone. ” -Vonnegut37

“ This set name was used in the NBA as well. I'm not a fan of abbreviations, so I never really cared for it. The design didn't help, it was just a cutout image of the player on a white background. This design is much nicer, but unfortunately was not used in my sport. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ As big a baseball fan I am, I have literally never heard of this guy ever. ” -Tylergallo

“ This has a couple of things I do not like. No stat's and using the same picture on front as back. Overall design is OK. ” -kirkscards

“ Looks like they airbrushed out the Reds logo on the hat. He's now an "Education Executive". https://www.linkedin.com/in/daylan-childress-30b8271a ” -royals

“ Pro sigs, but no sig? No likey! ” -parsley24

“ Design too busy. Reminds me of some of the Bowman or worse yet some press pass sets. Sorry I can't come up with a nice thing to say about the front except maybe the team logo? Back uses the same photo and weird design from front. Backs do not need a flashy design, just give stats and a nice career bio of the guy. ” -captkirk42

“ Nice front design. Although I don't see a "Sig". Neg points for using the same pic on the reverse. Would have been a nice to have a headshot. ” -Blargh

I miss those Reds uniforms btw. As for the card, yeah it’s not really good.

Looks like Panini. Where's the sig?

I agree the "Sigs" is a strange nomenclature in this instance. I can't help but think it's a spelling error of signs, although that doesn't make much more sense anyways.

As is the case with literally every card set that has Signatures or any abbreviations of it in the title, the box guaranteed an autograph. Nothing more, nothing less.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.

For several years card companies have been doing this sort of thing using the word "Signature" or "Autograph" or in this case "Sig" for a seet name where the primary "hit" or insert is an autographed card, yet making a base set that has no autographs at all. Deceiving yes very much so.

I am surprised that there are so many people in the hobby (and here on the Dataase) that haven't realized that many of these sets use the key words Auto, Autograph, Sig, Singnature, Graph and other variations of those words as part of a set that focuses on player autographs but has a BASE set with no signatures. Often making the autogrphaed cards special insert cards.
