Year: 1993

Set: SkyBox DC Comics Bloodlines (Rate)

Card: #13 Gemir's Primal Hunger!

“ Every summer, DC Comics (usually) did a company crossover, from 1985 to 2001, and then periodically afterwards. 1993's Bloodlines was the only one that got it's own card set, unfortunately. I was not a fan of the storyline when it was new, and to be honest...I'm still not. It was too violent, as comics were trending at the time, and most of the characters that were created were either never used again, only appeared again to die, or were annoying as all get out. The basic concept of the story is that these aliens came in from outside the galaxy, invaded Earth and would eat the bone marrow of humans by getting them in the base of the skull with the tongue like thing seen on the card. Most of the humans died instantly, but some gained super powers. After that one storyline, the aliens were never seen again...they actually all died in this storyline (they were essentially sentient larvae) but the entire species was never seen again, and only even referenced a handful of times. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I had no idea what this was. Apparently Gemir is an alien parasite that feeds on human spinal fluid. He accidentally gave super powers to Joe Public, a superhero that I have never heard of also. The card front is interesting. The card back seems like a puzzle and I hate these cards that link up into a larger picture. Does anyone actually have all of them lined up and put together somewhere, not just of this set but any set? ” -davidhandberry

“ My son collected these. Have them here somewhere. ” -NJDevils

“ Nice looking comic card. Don't know anything about the title or characters. ” -captkirk42
