Year: 2010

Set: Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects - Chrome (Rate)

Card: #BDP7 Brennan Boesch

“ That's a great scan for a Chrome card. I'm impressed. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ This card would have been good if it wasn't one of "20" versions of this same card. I went and counted and if you count the printing plates, which I do, there are 20 versions of this same design. What is even worse to me is with only 3 pictures Bowman created 44 cards. Parallels in the beginning were great, but there is no reason besides laziness that I can think of to make 20 of the same card, just changing a background or border. After writing all that, I happened to look at things even further. Knowing that Topps owns Bowman, I looked at noticed that Topps/Bowman made 97 cards of Brennan, in 2010. All other companies combined, 1, Choice. No company needs to make 97 cards of a player in one year. ” -davidhandberry

“ Before commenting, I have to get past my prejudice against Bowman. When Topps originally issued the Bowman brand, I loved it. It seemed to have a simplicity about it that was appealing. Eventually, though, as with all else, it seemed to be a brand that was issued ONLY as a moneymaker, another way to flood the market. Having said that, this isn't a bad card. They make good use of action shots in the series, but the backs do not have any appeal (I don't know why but I hate the standard Bowman back). ” -georgecf

“ Boesch had three good seasons in Detroit and then fell off big time ” -Tylergallo

“ I remember him! I think I had him temporarily on a fantasy team. Don't have any of this set, it is from before my collection resurrection. Doesn't look bad. ” -muskie027

I agree wholeheartedly with the comments regarding how many "variations" there are with new cards.  Its insane and makes it nearly impossible to collect all of a player or even sets (if you are into that).  Its the major reason why I have reverted to collecting only older (pre-1980) cards.

Oh Boy nothing but negatives for this one. Chrome, Draft Prospect set, everyone has mentioned 20+ variations.

I joined the anti-Bowman bloc many years back due to their horrific numbering system

Nice. 2 Tigers in 5 days. We aren't doing well on the field but we're doing pretty well on The Random card of the Day.
