Through a little bit of experimentation and a cooperative postie, a couple of us have determined that 40 normal cardboard cards packed in 2 stacks of 20 inside 2 team bags, side-by-side in a small bubble mailer can be shipped anywhere in Canada for $1.80 (+ tax so $2.05). The keys are less than 3/4" thick and 100 grams or less. This keeps it as letter mail and not into the parcel category. Therefore without factoring the cards you send, the cost per card to you is just slightly above $0.05, not bad when filling out sets with commons. So when you look to build a trade with a fellow Canadian, look to see if there are 40 cards that you are willing to exchange (for this experiment, I just added cards that my partner needed till I hit the magic 100g, 97g to be exact). Of course, this process also requires a cooperative postie; I found one about a year ago and now only go see her when I have to send through a post office. But now that I know this, I can actually buy a bunch of $1.80 stamps and put the correct postage on the package and drop it in a mail box without having to goo inside the post office.
I provide this info to all of you so as to maximize the economy of your trades with other Canadians. I am not intending this to discourage you to continue trading with our international friends. Some of my trade partners across the border have figured out how to minimize costs across the border as well in order to keep trading costs to a minimum. After all, that is one of the more enjoyable parts ofthe hobby.

Now if there was only a way do segregate our fellow Canadian traders on this wonderful site to simplify the above procedure...??? Just food for thought.

Dan, One of the changes I've asked Admin to consider is to identify ourselves by country for mailing purposes.

Follow my blog - I Identify as a Card Collector. “Aslan didn't tell Pole what would happen. He only told her what to do. That fellow will be the death of us once he's up, I shouldn't wonder. But that doesn't let us off following the signs.” - Puddleglum in The Silver Chair by C. S. Lewis

The same size package ships to the US for $2.95 Cdn. I keep a supply of $1.00 and "permanent" (85 cents) stamps in my drawer, which gives me the flexibility to mail to either Canada or the US without having to go to the postal desk. I put three $1.00 stamps for bubble mailers to the US, or a $1.00 plus a permanent stamp within Canada, then drop it in a mailbox. I pay an extra nickel per package, but especially for the US packages it saves the hastle of going to the PO for specific stamps.
In terms of somehow designating Canadian members, perhaps admin could add a red maple leaf to their username or profile pic? Or add a line under "Posts: ##" and "Joined: mm yy" that includes their country?

I believe I suggested a flag, but surely a symbol would suffice.

The profile does have a "From: " line in it. But it can say whatever you want it to say. Mine says "Earth", not real helpful to potential traders.

True that not everyone fills that out , but I was wondering if it could be possible to have something within the "member directory" segment that perhaps could be incorporated to sort the "last letter" search portion ( where currently it sorts by all members, and various last login times) with a Cdn. designation and then it would be just a matter of going through each letter to arrive at a possible trade partner list.
