I'm probably 75% done with transferring my collection into collections, and with that I've started adding my Want Lists. Check out a couple of insert sets I'm really close to completing. I added to my All-Stars and Bagwell Wants and will be completing what I have on hand here in NJ today, and then I'll finish with Biggio hopefully by tonight.

Do you want to come get to work on mine when you’re done?  I’m about 2% done transfering everything. 

Tell you what, my friend Bruno has had to be my corner manager on this, reminding me to stay focused as I've considered quitting this, but as I see it nearly finished (still needing a few tweaks) I can see it helping me to enjoy my collection more.

I am about 50% done in transferring my Main Collection into different collections and already I see so many benefits.  I won't see the full benefit till my Main Collection is empty and then used only for the transfer of cards I receive in trade automatically go there till I transfer those into their respective collections.

I was going to post about the benefits I found before the end of the week and before I go off for a ten day holiday down south but seeing as Commish started this thread, I will piggy-back.

To begin with, when in my Main Collection, I am no longer looking at 29 pages of sets that I have to guess which page a particular set is on.  It is now down to 15 and eventually will be zero. So far, in my different sets collection, Fleer probably has the most pages which is 3.  Of course "Fleer Ultra" and "Fleer Flair et al" are two other collections to minimize the # of pages.

By having a Traders Collection and transferring all of my traders from every set into this collection, when I am in a set in any other collection, all I see are my haves and my wants.  Therefore, for the most part, I know if I want to see card #486, I know it is on page 10 (50 cards per page).  No more guessing because all of my traders push it back another 5-6 pages.

When I receive numerous cards in a trade from different sets, they all go in the Main Collecction.  From there, I can simply go to the set and transfer all items into the colelction I want them in.  They automatically merge into the set and the Wants of those cards I received are gone because of the trade.

I look forward to finding a large lot of cards as I see again much benefit in having all of my sets in different collections sorted by company. It will be easier to find the sets I have and change wants or insert new cards into a set without being encumbered by all the traders.  When I do sort new cards, any card that shows as already having, I can put it aside in another box to then be entered in my Traders collection. Technically I could add another one in the set showing as "For Trade" and then when all the cards are entered, simply isolate teh "For Sale/Trade" cards and transfer them into my Traders collection but that may mean starting to accumulate doubles in my Traders which so far I have avoided doing as much as I can.

By doing this sorting, my digital collection will resemble my physical collection almost 100% (I hope to eventually get there). I have learned simple features on the site that I did not realize were there (simply by trying them out).  There are still a couple of features for Multiple Collections I hope Admin gets to soon but for now, I can defintiely live with the improvements we have seen in the last year.

Commish, I congratulate you on getting to where you are at especially considering your weekly travel.  Just one question, did you create a Collection just for your Wants or did you leave those in the sets with your Haves?

Bru, those are actually the major tweaks that I may have to revisit. Currently I'm keeping my Wants with the Collection they're supposed to be in so that I don't have to transfer after every trade. I believe theoretically it should work that way, but I've not had any trades come in yet with that set up. I have moved my Main Collection In-Transit cards (the ones coming in) to the specific collection's In-Transit. So I'll have to go back and use that new feature to make sure it worked despite my fiddling with it.

The other aspect of my Wants that I've been going back and forth on is the Biggio Effect. So Biggio is part of several collections: PC, Astros team, and All-Stars. I've decided right now to have a couple of criteria that are important to me in this endeavor (and none of this that follows has to do with my Football or Basketball collections, nor traders):

• I want my digital collection to match my physical collection. For example, I have binders for my PC and All-Star collections, and boxes for my team sets. TCDB should match that as much as possible. It won't be 100% because I don't collect duplicates and Biggio may end up in all three baseball collections even though I only have one card.
• I also want to ease some of the tedium of using TCDB to help with increasing my collections. Biggio, again as an example, will have his Wants within the Astros team set collection primarily because I'd get frustrated going back and forth between team and PC to make sure that I had his card or teammates cards. Only his All-Star cards will be Wants on the all-star collection and not the team sets because I need to know that who've I got there.

Anyway, this is the gist of what still may be tweaked, but for now I've given it much thought and feel this is the way to go for me.

Joshua,  I believe that no matter where the "Wants" are, when you receive a trade they will be transferred to your Main Collection.  You then will have to transfer them into the collection you want.  For you that means possibly going to three different collections to click as having even though the one card resides only in one physical collection.  Not that this should be too much trouble. If you click on the link in the trade, it opens in a new window.  You then transfer it to each collection you wish it to go to.  This would be Biggio cards for the most part.  If tyou receive more than one card in a trade thta has to go to a set collection, go to Collection Summary for that set in you Main Collection and slecct "Transfer all Items to XXX collection.  In this way, all the cards go at once, not having to do it one at a time.

So if you click "Add all missing items to your want list" in the Biggio cards, no matter what collection you are in, when you do get a trade, they will be found in your Main Collection but they will be removed from your Want List.  I know this can sound a bit complicated but I am getting used to knowing which collection I am working in and how to get the cards into the right collection with the shortest amount of "clicks".

You can duplicate the cards before you move them. If he gets a Biggio All Star, it shows up in his main collection. He can add another to collection, twice, then move one to each final destination. Less searching that way.

@sportzcommish I have Astros.  Do you have yankees? Im not done yet but Ive been posting my nicer stuff on my trading website mrrosado.jigsy.com. I can trade you like 30 Astros cards for 30 Yankees.  Ive done 100 team x for 100 Yankees before.  I dont know if I have 100 Astros.  Let me know.  Pax Tecum.  Lingua Latina dificilis est.

I'm always open to a trade. My Trade List is here at TCDB, and so is my Want List, although it's always increasing. If there's a card that's not on it don't hesitate to offer it.
