Just a quick question. When proposing a trade how long do you guys let it hang out there before withdrawing it? Thanks.

For me, probably until I offer the same card to someone else. I had a situation once where I traded a card to 2 people, so I had to get rid of my trader AND my personal copy of it to fill both deals. I would also probably pull a deal back after a couple weeks if I saw the other member hadn't even logged on in the interim.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I've got itchy fingers and am very impatient with those who log in regularly, but will wait from 5-7 days before withdrawing outright. I have recently withdrawn some abruptly due to a personal matter, though, but that's not usual.

On the proposal side, I'll give some leeway as I deal with a lot of TCDB regulars. I understand that everyone has things that keeps them busy from actually getting to a request even though they log-in on a regular basis. They could just have a give minute to check the forums or blogs. I'll let it hang for a bit (once went two weeks without a response, but it turned into a great trade) if I have a feel for the person. Unless there is an absolute need, like time has gone by and someone requests a card that I have offered (and I'll tell that person that the card is tied up in another proposal 1st and go from there), I'll remain true to my offer.
On the receiving end of things I'll say this. I travel a bit for work and sometimes I get a proposal while on the road, like today. The least I can do is let the proposer know that I am away from home and give them an estimate as to when I can respond properly. I'll ask if they or okay with that and go from there.

I'm terrible when it comes to trades. I spent October to August traveling weekly (except for 3 weeks), and had very limited time at home on the weekends. I know I did finalize a trade with someone and I think it took like 2 months. I also made a small sale to a very nice member in Canada, and have been requested of more cards, but haven't had the chance to look. I will let a trade ride for a long time. I had one where the other party never responded. I think it sat there for 3 or 4 months. (Maybe I'm just too optimistic.) I hope others will be as patient with me. Currently, no trades in the works - and that's ok.

I’m usually not a patient person, but I’ve been patient with trades. I have one in the works for over two months and I’ve kept it alive. As long as there is some form of communication, I’ll be fine with it. However, I had another offer sent to me and I said it would take a week or two before I could get around to it. He withdrew the proposal about 3 days later, so it all depends. I tend to be patient, but others aren’t.

I like to message back and forth a little bit before posting a trade.
some folks don't have time at the time to trade or have little interest...I think that helps to talk in general before pulling cards or setting up trades.

7 days unless the other member states that they will be away for an extended period of time. I will wait longer if someone needs more time but if there's no communication, then 7 days is it.

Thanks all! I was thinking 7-10 days if I hadn't received any sort of response, so I'm glad I wasn't over-reacting.

I have yet to actually propose a trade on here, but on other sites, 7-10 days is a decent waiting period. I don't propose trades here b/c I still don't have all of my cards added. I have 2 proposals waiting on me now. They are both baseball trades and I still have a ton left to add to my traders. I asked both if they could give me some time to add more cards. If I get a proposal for something I've already added completely, then I move forward with it. I always reply to offers/proposals as soon as I see them, whether I want to trade then or wait a bit. Communication is the key.
