Year: 2004

Set: SkyBox LE - Future Legends (Rate)

Card: #13 FL Ben Troupe

“ So, football fans, is this guy a legend? I always laugh when the card companies predict future stuff, because they are usually well off. I can think of only one prediction in the NBA that actually came true, and that was Hakeem Olajuwon being named Playoff MVP. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Future Legend? Nope. ” -royals

“ Somewhat unprophetic. ” -Sportzcommish

“ This guy played forever! Like the card design and I honestly don't remember him playing for the Titans. ” -JoshReese92099

“ Turned out he was not a Future Legend. ” -carthage44

“ Boring.... ” -jayoneill

“ Not a horrible design, but something about it just says, "Meh." ” -olerud363

“ Future legends and Ben Troupe... Never thought i would hear that together. But anyways, a nice-ish design. I wish these designs and special parallels would be reserved for truly special people. ” -parsley24

“ Nope on the design...nope on the legend. ” -cckeith

“ They had 25 cards in this set. This one was a miss on their "legend" prediction. I wonder how they did overall. I like the use of team colors--makes for a sharp card. But I'm not pleased with all the wasted space. ” -kents_stuff

“ Boring. ” -cjjt

“ I know Guppy Troup. I don't remember Ben Troupe. Maybe I would if I had this card. ” -switzr1

“ WE'VE FOUND IT! THE MOST BORING CARD EVER PRINTED! ” -beansballcardblog

“ wow soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much blue ” -aussiewayne

“ A Rookie business card? Not sure what to think about this one. ” -captkirk42

“ Future legend eh? ” -IfbBirdsCards

I live in Nashville and I barely remember his name. Maybe he's a legendary Parcheesi player or something.

Haha!  Let's wait for cnangle to upload the 1888 Gypsy Queen Parcheesi set and we will see if Ben is in it!

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff.  Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I remember him as being a decent tight end with a few touchdown catches. Not his fault that a card company decided to place a tag of Future Legend on a tight end drafted in the second round. Poke fun at the card, not him, he had an average length NFL career.

My intent was to poke fun at the card. Still, I genuinely don't remember the guy. Admittedly, I wasn't watching much NFL at that time.  I lived in California and never got used to the 10AM start times.

By the way, if anyone has Sean Taylor from this set, it's the only missing scan.

The cards are to plain for an insert with this title. Skybox didn't do too bad with the Legends part of it though. I'd say 5 have reached Legend status and over half of the 25 players have or had long careers. Most of the ones that didn't had there career cut short by injury. Troupe is one of the 5-6 players that shouldn't have been in this set.

As for the Sean Taylor card missing scans, he is the only player in the list that is deceased. I can't remember how he died, but he had a good career going until then. I'm still surprised no one has added those scans though.

I believe Sean was killed in a home invasion at his house if I'm not mistaken.

I never seen this set before today, but not impressed with it.  I remember Ben Troupe but forgot about him.  While I wouldn't place him among best ever, I think he had a couple solid years.
