Year: 2009

Set: Upper Deck 20th Anniversary (Rate)

Card: #292 Michael Jordan

“ With how much Upper Deck relied on MJ, I'm surprised he didn't get his own 2000 card set. He actually got more cards after he retired than most players get in their careers. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Nice design for the most part. Upper Deck logos are too big on the front and back to me. The back could use something else, it looks very sparse. ” -davidhandberry

“ Kudos to Upper Deck for making this anniversary set. However with it being 1,000 + cards few have attempted to complete the set. I often ignore it. I have a handful (3 or 4?) cards from this set one or two sports related and 1 or 2 non-sport. I think I still have one of Prince Harry and Prince William. ” -captkirk42

“ mj ” -crashdavis28

“ Jordan is cool, this card is only ok at best. ” -muskie027

“ This is a cool set. I like the way Upper Deck used a multi-sport approach in the 20th Anniversary set, rather than a single sport anniversary set or insert sets of single sports - like the 1999 Upper Deck 10th Anniversary inserts. ” -Alomar_Collector

The 20th Anniversary set was well-done IMO. The design wasn't great, but it stood out when you pulled one of them from a pack. I have some from a couple of sports and some non-sports cards too. I loved that it was about the history of the world during that time instead of just what UD did during that time. I'd love to add more NFL, MLB and astronomy cards from this set that I don't have yet.

Actually for each subject, Upper Deck used the same picture five times, for example Ken Griffey Jr. holds the #1-5 spots. They just had a different blurb on the back, which is pretty lame. Five different photos for the same subject  would have been well done.

Still considered by many as the "GOAT" although that's a subject/conversation that changes from era to era, generation to generation.

There are some nice cards in the set, such as this one, but overall the set itself isn't one I'm a fan of and I think a lot of people tend to either ignore it or just wanted certain cards from it.

I am going after this entire set. I love it.  Since most people do not like it I can pick up quite a lot of cards for cheap.

Completion of this set is the holy grail for me and card collecting.  This was and still is my first attempt at a jumbo set , 2500 cards.  As someone else noted the biggest downside is the repedive photos covering each subject.  But other than that in my top 5 favs. Far reaching array of subject material done well.  From time to time I can be found gazing at my 2120 cards.
