Did you see the RP pitcher who collects cards, cant remember his name but.. He sold a auto card of ohtani for just over $6,000 on ebay recently, he now wishes he never sold it as it was the first print run or something. Thats alot of money for a player that only just started his career...

I recently broke my rule of not giving in to the hype of new, unproven players by buying some of this kid Ohtani's cards.
I find how they are going to use him in the lineup interesting. Since some think pitchers can't hit, they use the DH. While as far as I'm concerned the DH is cheating as it is, as baseball is a game of nine. Nine pay the field, those same 9 should have a turn at bat. I don't care that the rule was implemented in 1973, and has been a plague on baseball ever since.
Anyways on to this kid, isn't this still cheating, if you use a pitcher as the DH? All the more reason to abolish the rule and put baseball back to how it is meant to be played. I don't care about the arguments for extending aging players careers. It cheapens their playing time, great players such as Yount, Brett, and Molitor come to mind. Worse than the roid scandals.
Oh well, didn't mean to derail your thread, I could go on about this subject for days, always have used every chance I get to debunk, and criticize the rule.

Yes, get rid of the DH. I rather watch an intentional walk to the 8th hitter so that I can see a pitcher who is not comfortable in the batter's box get struck out and kill a rally.
Sorry, I am on the other side of the fence.

Yes, it was Pat Neshek who is also a big card and autograph collector and super cool guy. He routinely posts his mailing address to send cards for him to autograph on Twitter.

Not of fan of the DH here. Different rules for different leagues make no sense especially when they play against each other. I was against astro turf and they finally listened to me and got rid of that. Next they will kill the DH, right. If a guy cant field as well as bat, he has no business being out on the field. Maybe basketball should get a DFT, designated free thrower.

PH for him. These guys are getting PAID to play a GAME, and quite well too. If more pitchers took batting practice, and the lower levels didn't push the DH, they wouldn't be so uncomfortable taking swings.
I'm expected to be versatile in my job, and have new stuff I've never done thrown at me daily, I expect professinal baseball players to be as well. Baseball is about running, throwing, catching, and hitting. Can't do one? Oh well that's a weakness to exploit by the other team.

When they were in high school they were probably the best hitters on the team.

Here's something funny and embarrasing. The main sport I played growing up was basketball and I played for my school team from middle school through high school. Basketball is my favorite sport.
But, I also love baseball as well. I played baseball in little league and in middle school before focusing soley on basketball when I got to high school. In baseball I played third base, and not to be boastful or anything, but I was very good with the glove. Unfortunately, I wasn't very good with the bat. Sooo, my coach really wanted me out there because of my fielding and would have me play 3B- while someone DHd for me.
I am pretty sure that I am the only third baseman in the history of baseball that has had someone DH for them.
Edit: Sorry to make this about personal stories, but this reminded me of something else funny as well. Back when I played basketball, I didn't have contacts. So I would just play without my glasses. I could still see everything, but sometimes I would have to squint to see far away or read the other team's jersey numbers. I was a starting guard when I played, and just depending on the season and the roster I was either at PG or SG. Well one game when I was the starting PG, my backup lost his contact so he had to just take the other one out too. My coach looked at us in disbelief and said, " I must be the only coach in the history of the game with 2 blind point guards!"
