Ok, the thread title is a bit of an exaggeration, but with my birthday money I had ordered three vintage cards, from three different sellers, and had bought some screwdown cases from Dan. And returning at 7:00 from a long day at work, with a headache, it was somewhat joy-inducing to see all four little packages together on my doorstep. Didn't expect them to all come on the same day.
Time for some rearranging of the displays and updating of one of my lists!
Yay.

Nice, V-cubed. I, too, look forward to those days, even though you anticipate them, it's a wonderful relief from long days at work. Just curious what you bought, though.

I hope the screw downs work for you. They might need a little TLC to get them in shape.

Well, Commish,
Because Mom (mother in law, but she gets the "Mom" appellation) isn't great at gift buying for me, she sometimes just sends some Visa gift cards and says to buy baseball cards. I sometimes have trouble, guilt-wise, spending it all on pieces of cardboard, but this was reasonable, so I went for it immediately. The mini haul was:
1940 Play Ball Moe Berg, PSA 3 -- fascinating guy and a card I'd been stalking for a few weeks; 1941 Play Ball "Pinky" Higgins, SGC 45 -- pretty racist guy, but lovely card; and a 1934 Goudey Lyle Tinning, PSA 5 -- because I needed a 1934 Goudey card and it had to be a Cub.
Your curiousity is now satisfied!

Good job! With Dad's Day just around the corner I anticipate making a similar haul. If I get money, though, I don't go through the guilt trip you do, but I do struggle with spending most of it on a few cards, so I'll sift through my Want List and go for quantity usually, unless I can find some <$5.00 deals on some vintage and maybe I'll get a handful of them.

I'm happy to just get one package of cards in a day, so any more than that is thrilling! Congrats on a great mailday V3.

Sweet cards. Moe Berg is quite a story. I love having some history in the cards. Interesting call on the '41 Play Ball. Nice color and classic baseball pose with interesting background. I have a '34 Goudey Tinning in my Cubs collection. Seems like a tougher set to get a hold of than the '33's. I have 15 of the 17 Cubs from '33 and only 3 of the 6 Cubs from '34. I was lucky enough to snag a '34 Goudey Chuck Klein a long time ago. That would hurt a lot more to try and pick up today. Congrats Nice additions to your collection.

My Autograph Collection Website Emphasis is on the 1969 Cubs. This is still a work in progress as is my collection here at TCDB. Value what you collect, don't collect for value.
